Kill wants ground broken on new practice facility by April; U not giving timetable

“We are going to break ground as soon as we possibly can; that hasn’t changed,” Senior Associate Athletics Director Chris Werle said today.

At Big Ten Media Days last month, Kill was outspoken about his facility goals.

“I tell recruits, we’ve got a good idea where it’s going to be,” Kill told reporters. “We’ve got spring ball starting. In April, we finalize it, and start getting in the ground as soon as we can.

“April would be [a good time] to me. They can even do it in December the way they work around here in the weather. … That’s what Coach wants, and that’s what we need, and anything different than that, I’m not going to be happy.”

Kill starting to flex his muscle like B1G FB coaches should...his team brings in tens of millions of dollars each year in revenue and supports the entire athletic department. Winning a B1G championship and playing in the playoffs would be worth $100 million or more in non-athletic giving to the U. Want more people to know what a great medical program we have, our business school, our research work? Then win in football because it all gets more press and exposure when your team is in the mix for a national championship.

Basketball is nice and can turn a nifty profit, but winning at football is where the big money is. Football is America's money sport.

With Kill mentioning a football practice facility hopefully being started soon does that also mean he fundraising for a practice facility is close as well? Or are the two facilities being fundraised for separately?
