Kill looks happy to be here

I am listening on radio, sounds very humble and appreciative.

If I tripled my salary, I'd be happy too. Seriously though, he's winning most of us over. True test is how he and the team reacts after a tough loss (think Michigan in 2003 or Northwestern in 2008). That'll show you what he's made of.

Brewster won everyone over in his presser too. Kill at least has some history to back him up.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall quite a few skeptics after the Brewster presser. No that it matters, but he certainly set a far different tone than Brew did. It will be interesting to see how all the media types react to him.

I listened to the Brew press conference with some friends and was mortified that we'd hired a Wacker clone, without the coaching experience of Wacker. We were most certainly not won over.

I was almost sold when he went 7-0, but then, as is normal for Gopher fans, was brought back to earth.

Kill does seem to be the right coach. I not originally from MN but I've been here long enough to know that Kill's ' let's roll up our sleeves and go to work' is the right message. As far as recruiting, I think he'll be OK, we will get good talented kid's but will miss out on some of the "Prima Donna's". I'm looking forward to what happens with recruiting.

He's obviously overjoyed to be here. This is the BCS, and it's the culmination of his lifelong dream and the reward for all that hard work and fight he's had to put in to reach this exalted level of the college game.

And I'm not too worried about recruiting, because it's pretty clear that Kill gets his players and then coaches 'em up, which to me is much more important and valuable than getting a bunch of 5* recruits who never reach their potential in the college game because they're not taught how to do so. And beyond that, establishing a winning tradition = getting better recruits almost automatically, as proven by Iowa, Wisky, Boise St., and countless other examples.

But I love the fact that Kill is a teacher and does have that ability to coach players up and get the most out of their abilities. That's a huge plus right there.
