Kiffin was equally dogged. But when it was obvious that Jeffrey wasn't going to Tennessee, Kiffin took off the gloves.

According to Jeffrey and Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.

Jeffrey was doing his best to stay awake at that point, but that comment from Kiffin woke him up. He clearly hasn't forgotten it, either.

Kiffin is a beat reporters dream and a SIDs greatest nightmare.

Go Gophers!!

Representing Bloomington Jefferson Very well! at least he has a hot wife!

Kiffin lied to SI for his article as well

Kiffin is a beat reporters dream and a SIDs greatest nightmare.
Possibly the understatement of the offseason. I found another story of Kiffin’s antics a while ago but never bothered to post since Kiffin is a little OT. This thread is my opportunity though! Thanks Bleed! :)

Basically Kiffin lied to Sports Illustrated when he was interviewed. Here’s the relevant excerpt from Kiffin's article with Sports Illustrated (http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1151767/4/index.htm):
SI.com said:
Lane flew back to Tennessee less than 48 hours after his son was born. He'd arranged to have someone fetch him at the airport, but the driver was 25 minutes late. "I came back and within five minutes I'd fired the guy who was in charge of the guy who'd been sent to pick me up," says Kiffin. "Here's the point: We need to win. That's 25 minutes that Nick Saban and Urban Meyer had that I lost because somebody was late picking me up at the airport."
Kiffin has shown no more sympathy for the rest of the support staff he inherited from Fulmer. "You can't count the number of people we've run off because they couldn't keep up, and I'm including secretaries," he says. "They had to go because they weren't going to make it, and they knew it."
But here is what the Tennessee AD had to say about the article (http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/feb/12/kiffin-has-not-fired-anybody/?partner=RSS):
GoVolsXtra.com said:
"He has not fired anybody," UT athletic director Mike Hamilton said Thursday afternoon. "If he said he has fired somebody, that's not true. I don't know if he said it from a standpoint of making a point that 'We've got to get this right.' But he didn't fire anybody.
"You can't just fire anybody at Tennessee, particularly when you're talking about non-contract employees. There's a process.”
The UT Director of PR tried to come up with a nice cover story:
GoVolsXtra.com said:
Tiffany Carpenter, UT's director of public relations, said Kiffin had a change of heart about the firing.
"The (Sports Illustrated) interview happened the day of the incident," Carpenter said. "At that time, (Kiffin) wanted to fire that individual but after further thought and discussions decided that was not in the best interest of Tennessee."
But even if what she says is true, Kiffin still lied. He said he FIRED (past tense) someone. If that person was never fired and Kiffin never had the power to fire them then he is lying. I couldn’t stop laughing when I read this. Kiffin is putting UT in some ridiculous situations with his antics. I am seriously very happy the U didn’t hire him.

This is the guy some wanted instead of Brewster. I don't know if Brewster will succeed or not, but at least he's not a total tool.

This is one guy that Al Davis fired that was actually crazier than Al himself.

Honestly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry here. Kiffin has to be one of the biggest schmucks in a conference renown for them (SEC). The more he talks, the dumber he sounds. What a piece of trash...

Tennessee is becoming a bigger and bigger laughing stock everyday he stays on the job...

I will say this though, he's given me a reason to root against the Volunteers for future seasons!!!!:p

if this is true...

Thank the greater one for not allowing us to hire this hack. two seasons at Tennessee at the most and then we shal see who is pumping gas!

Reading that excerpt from the SI article, young Kiffin seems to be quite proud of being a total a-hole. I'm not saying that changes don't need to happen, but to thump your chest about firing secretaries to the media? Wow.

On the bright side.......he would STILL be a step up in class from Bret Bieliema at Wisconsin!!!

This guy is a train wreck. He is not handling the pressure well at all. He must be used to getting what he wants because his recruiting acumen is like my toddler trying to get a cookie.

Pretty potent letter. I could not help but think of how the media has been making a laughing stock of Al Davis well before Kiffin got involved, though I for one am even happier the Gophers went with Brew rather then Kiffin.

Kiffen was on PTI yesterday and denied ever making that statement. One of the two are lying. I believe the kid.

Pretty potent letter, but kind of written like a spurned lover. Bottom line, if you are a bigger more egocentric jerk than Al Davis, you will have your own bust in the Jerk Hall of Fame.

The part about the comments that really gets me is..... there are few people pumping gas these days, full service gas stations are rare.
