May want to turn it on if you're not listening...

Tongue-in-cheek celebration of the NIT win(s)

I'll stick to preseason baseball.

Oooh. Is that guy who dresses up like a fairy going to mock the Gophers? I'll be sure to turn in and listen to that. Funny how every sports "personality" in this town that had to go through spin dry because they lack the self control to lay off the booze is a bitter, jaded piece of dog feces. Maybe it's not the alcohol, maybe you're just an a-hole.

Funny they don't rip the vikings for being a joke last season.

Sludge is the only guy in the morning that even likes basketball and he dislikes the gophers and has no real knowledge of the sport. I stick to Mike & Mike or NPR, miss Dan Patrick when they had 690am.

How would you know if you don't listen? They rip the Vikings all the time. There has been lots of doubt raised over the Vikings and their lack of movement in free agency.

We like the Gophers, we're fans, so we're always happy to see our team win. But let's be honest, the NIT doesn't mean much other than us seeing some wins that we hope will help us next year. Almost no fans of any team minus MN and Stanford will be watching Thursday. A NIT championship or being Runner-Up is likely not going to be the swaying event to recruits. More of a joke was the tournament the lady gophers basketball team was in, but as a fan, I'm happy they won as well. Quit being so thin-skinned.

May be true, but not all of the way true. I watched the NIT championship last year, and while other fans may not see the importance of these games, they most certainly are.

I agree they are important, and certainly hoops junkies will tune in. But I bet 90% of people that would classify themselves as "Gopher Fans" will not be watching the championship nor could even tell you who we are playing. That would be far different if we were in the final four. Anyway, common is a dink most of the time so this is nothing different. Just ignore him and move along.

KFAN ignores Gopher basketball because they don't have the rights, so it's not in their best interest to stir up excitement. KFAN talks about the subjects fans are most passionate about, and sports that they carry. It's why I don't listen nearly as much as I used to.

I don't listen to "ordinary man" because he thinks he is the funniest person around. I can listen to him for about five minutes before he starts repeating himself and starts talking his golf game. KFAN must not be able to find anyone else to fill that time slot.

I disagree. A "true" Gopher fan will watch and it's great exposure for the school and experience for a young team. Your analogy is like saying that if the football team makes any bowl besides a BCS bowl a "true" Gopher fan would not watch it.

Oh lord. Not the "true fan" argument again.

He's had his own show for over 15 years so it appears KFAN isn't looking for someone else.

If the games were being aired on KFAN, I expect their attitude toward the NIT would change significantly. I do know that people at work are talking about the Gophers.

I think I may watch the game on Thursday: Gophers vs Stanford.

Good entertaining basketball is fun to watch, if you are a fan it will be enjoyable no matter who you are playing or where. The Gophers have played well the last couple of weeks, Rodney and Andre have excelled. What's not to enjoy.

Someone ripping on that isn't a basketball fan nor a Gopher fan, why bother ever watching if that is the case.

A guy is outraged by the Common Man? He hosts a 3 hour comedy show, if not interested don't listen. His bit does include ripping Minnesota sports teams... This outrage is similar to a liberal watching Colbert and being offended.

It's more like 20+, isn't it?

Really???!!!! OMG only in America can a hack like that keep his job!

I used to listen to him once in a while. If you turn him on every couple of weeks you will hear the same stuff over and over again. Not outraged with him, but bored by him and lack of new "stuff" so I do not listen to him. He is so bad I will even listen to reusse before ordinary man if I'm in my car at that time.

Totally the same, other than Colbert being a tad bit better at comedy.

It's funny they don't rip on themselves for the worthless shows they all produce. I haven't listened to them for years. Just turn it off, you'll be much better for it and won't miss anything valuable.

Common Man rips everyone, including himself and other KFAN employees...You haven't listened in over 20 years I assume?

You can count on it in every thread bashing the local media...the inevitable..."well I have listened to 'insert show' in 15 years" / "I haven't read 'insert columnist' in 10 years".

B.S. You do listen. You do read. It's okay!

A couple 13, 14...

A little of this, little of that, with the emphasis on the lat...

I'll watch tomorrow, hope the gophs can pull it out. A few games and ending the season on a high note is always a good thing...

You've obviously never listened to the Common Man. Half his shtick is making fun of KFAN. Paul Allen had his own region in his classic Preposterous Statement Tourney.

His bit is he rips everyone and when they do well he takes credit for it.

Common is the only KFAN guy that I like. You shouldn't be hurt about his disinterest in the Gophers the guy isn't interested in the Vikings either. It's not really a sports show.

Furthermore, Common was actually kind of giving them props today. He said he'd rather have an NIT run than lose in the first round of the NCAA. I disagree, but that certainly isn't minimizing the Gophers' run.

Agreed. And since the Gophers entered the NIT, Common predicted the Gophs would win it all and been complete schill for the them, in his own tongue and cheek way ('Spendin' fat stacks of booster provided cash, m'boy!"). It's likely that he's at least slightly raised the level of interest in the Gophers during this NIT run. And he's actually watched the games. Which is more prep work than he's probably ever done in his life.

Their whole show is schtick and tongue in cheek. There is never anything remotely serious about their sports talk. Everything is a joke. It is literally unlistenable!!!!!!!

Morning Show on KFAN is actually pretty funny - but this Dan Cole (Common) crap at noon has always been complete garbage. Not the least bit entertaining.
