Kent State Post-Game Presser Notes/Quotes

I am impressed with and grateful for what Kill has done for the Gophers. But anyone with common sense would agree that Kill has lost his composure and is showing some chinks in his character. He's being hypocritical in how he expects his players to behave like men while he acts like a child. These moments provide valuable insights into the whole Jerry Kill, beyond the man who most of us have come to know and highly respect. You rarely see a great head coach speak or think this way. This side of his personality of course leaks into everything he does in life: no different than any other human. It affects how he coaches and the decisions he makes with personnel and how he regards certain players. We all have tendencies. Coach Kill has shown me a side of himself that I believes detracts from all his great qualities and gives me insight as to why our offense has not grown much the last 3 years. I for one think Kill deserves 10 full seasons. I don't think we can find a better staff. But I would counsel Kill to get some advice from other leaders on how he might tweak, refine and enhance his personality/character and decision making. It's never too late to grow as a person.
1) I have common sense
2) I don't agree Kill has lost his composure
3) I also don't agree he is showing chinks in his armor
4) He is not being hypocritical
5) your views, and the views of many posters on an anonymous fan message board, are really insignificant, in the big picture, to everyone but themselves and have no bearing on where we go from here, with one exception: apparently there are some posters who are no longer going to watch, follow or support the team and won't be missed.

Was his AD comment indicative of Jerry's feeling that he reports to no one? Because the U does have an AD with the power to fire anyone.

that was yet another childish, unprofessional and unleaded-like comment he made. if you guys can't see that, then that just means you see nothing wrong and you probably act like a baby too when the going gets rough.

Jet sweeps tend not to work well on teams that rush upfield hard off the ends- as KSU was doing yesterday with their OLBs and weak side DEs. My issue is when teams crash off the edge with a hard upfield outside initial rush is why are we not taking advantage of this and running Power off Tackle instead of continuously running between the guards?

We run power all the time...Power G, actually. The problem is our TE's are getting dominated right now, so that down block is screwed. We're also getting pushed back in the middle, so on at least 2 occasions this year I've seen our pulling guard get hit in the backfield. I haven't paid much attention to our FB, so I honestly don't know how he'd doing.

I don't think I would be very eloquent that soon after a horse crap game either.

Oh I totally would have gone on a tirade that made Jerry Burns look like a nun if I was coach after a game like this. This, along with a complete lack of important football scheme knowledge, is why I'm not a coach. Not saying he couldn't have responded better, but I am not going to pretend for a second that I would have been any better in the heat of the moment.

I like Kill. Hopefully the offense can bounce back from this god awful start.

So if I read this comment correctly, anyone who doesn't agree with your take on Kill "probably" can't handle adversity.

Interesting perspective. But as you wrote earlier:

It's never too late to grow as a person.
