This would be a cool story, so long as it doesn't come at the expense of the Gophers. I like the fact Carmody and his players aren't shying away from the expectation. If the Wildcats can find a suitable replacement for Moore's long-range bombing, they've got a shot at it. Would say it's really important they beat Butler, especially. Can't afford to lose that game at Welsh-Ryan. It's pretty obvious these guys know they can't put all their eggs in one basket (the Big 10 season). They know they'll likely need 2-3 decent wins in NC play to be taken seriously.

Northwestern is going to have to improve from last year if they want a strong shot at the tournament. Last year weren't they a 5 or 6 seed in the NIT?

In my estimation they were probably 2 (perhaps 3) wins shy of a bid, closer than it sounds. Perhaps if they had beaten Butler on the road (they lead for much of the game), won 1 of the 2 games they really choked away at home (Illinois or Michigan) and/or then got by the Gophers in the 1st round, they would have legitimately been in the conversation.
