Did you get your postcard setting up your phone call from Dr Eric Kaler? I'm lookin forward to it.
 


postcard in the house mailbox that gave me a date and time that EK would be calling my phone to discuss U stuff. I figured we all got em.
 





whew! was hoping Kaler wasn't going through my old records and found some incomplete Global Studies req that would negate my degree. 'you needed 12 GS credits....'
 

I got the postcard as well. I've been kind of assuming it would be a pre-taped message and then an opportunity for me to leave a few thoughts after a beep, which some intern would get back to me if they were the right questions. We'll see, though.
 

He called me...but then Teague beeped in and i took his call. I was going to set up "3 way calling" but then the Vatican called (my cell) wanting my input on the pope thing so I had to get rid of both of them.

Let us know what the call is about if you would...

I got an e-mail today setting a time for a call. Sounds like Kaler makes some remarks and then opens it up for questions. Has anyone actually participated in one of these calls? Is there any benefit to it? Mine's scheduled to conflict with the Sweet Sixteen, so I am thinking I might be distracted.

I got the same email. My guess is it's a recorded message and then you can leave a message when it's done.

There is not a chance in he!! that EK will be on the actual call. It is exactly as you said a recorded message probably asking you to donate followed by the chance to leave a message for some intern to listen to. EK may hear a few of the thoughts but otherwise all he will get is a thumbnail version of the comments they feel are worthwhile.
 

Pretty sure I had something like this in one of the previous two seasons. It was a conference call to listen in on the status of things with a moderated Q&A at the end.

I too got the same email yesterday.
 

Regardless of the format: IF you are able to leave a message that MIGHT be heard by someone it might be a GREAT idea to tell prexy k the things he NEEDS to hear...not the things that might be construed as "everything is just great...we LOVE the job you are doing...we think you are great and keep on doing what you know needs to be done..."

Let's face the facts: this guy is new to the U and he is insulated and isolated from some of the problems there and what the REAL people of Minnesota think.

As a football fan: I feel the that the administration at the U of M for decades has dropped the ball and has just tried to "fire their way to success on the football field..." It appears to me they have always tried to throw a new coach to the booster clubs...the season ticket holders and they really haven't cared much about creating the type of GAME DAY environment that fans feel they own...they are a part of...and that become a part of each individual student and fans traditions.

prexy k NEEDS to shape up the administrators, band-directors, employees and everyone connected with the Unviersity of Minnesota so that they not only REALIZE how important creating traditions and LOYALTIES for the students, season ticket holders and the general public will be for the future WELL-BEING of the U of M and will even carry forward into the STATE HOUSE and the LEGISLATIVE bodies that he must go to for funds for the University's MISSION.

Tell prexy k he has a LOT of work to do. Tell him that even though he is very new at the U he needs to JUMP ON IT right now. For him to just be visible at football games is NOT enough. He needs to shape up his staff...all the employees at the U to display PRIDE in the stadium...to treat the fans and students as though they are WELCOMED GUESTS of the University of Minnesota on GAME DAY SATURDAY and that he and the entire University want to provide the BEST customer service for the great celebration of the U that happens on ALL Game Days. The U of M NEEDS to upgrade their image with the people of Minnesota and there is only ONE way to do it. With PRIDE in the University displayed by EVERY administrator, band-director, employee and student worker on GAME DAY SATURDAY. Give GREAT customer service. Be welcoming. Take personal pride in helping to allow the students...the season ticket buyers...the fan who comes to a game once in a year...or once in a lifetime to ALL fall in love with the GREAT CELEBRATION of the University of Minnesota on the campus of the U at Gopher Football Games!

Be real in your recorded messages to the man.

Personally, I don't quite know what to make of prexy k and his new administration. The same is true for our new norwood. I'm watching what he DOES...not just listening to what he SAYS. The two things must be congruent and actions are MUCH more important than mere words.

Tell 'em what they NEED to hear...not just the nice, polite, supportive stuff that they hear all the time. prexy k and our new norwood need to SHOW me results...I don't need to hear them make empty promises. I need to hear them talk about things they can DELIVER and and just empty talk. Believe it or not, I really do believe that IF prexy k and our new norwood really are GOOD administrators, they want to hear about the things that need fixing...not just "Minnesota-Nice" greetings and "attaboys..."

FIX things now and it will pay great dividends prexy k!
