Anyone who is still going with the "Gaard is a Hawkeye" mantra isn't paying attention. He has dramatically increased and improved the Gopher coverage.
 


"-Former Gopher All-American Doug Kingsriter addressed the team following practice on Wednesday. He told the team he would trade all his acolades as a player for the chance to play again on Saturday. The last part of his speech was pretty interesting. He told the players forget about waving towels on the sidelines if they wanted to get the crowd fired up. Play as a team, play for one another, and “go hit somebody. You hit somebody like you hit in practice today, the crowd will get behind you." There were some big hits on Saturday and the crowd definitely responded."

The problem with your statement is that both of these conditions can co-exist together in the same person.

Sounds like Gaard the Hawkeye is coming down with a case of Stockholm Syndrome.

I agree with kingsriter, you play agressive and hit people and fly around the field, enthusiam will come. There is a difference between being excited about a good play and celebrating like you won the super bowl.
