Osunde Decommited from the U today and recommitted to Texas Tech. His facebook has implied he has had a lot of legal issues since signing with Minnesota. He says those issues have made him move on to Texas Tech.

"Legal issues" as far as what?

That's too bad, I was really begining to like our depth in the secondary. I wonder if we are looking to add another JuCo DB.

Sounds like he did not want to decommit but had to because of some Court order. Very weird.

Legal or admissions?

Has he been breaking the law since he got here? I think you have 30 days to get a new license or plates :)

Not sure on the exact issues but he often complained about the court system and judges not letting a man move away from his bad past.

Junior Osunde
This judge and the court system just took everything from me all because my past. Hurting

Junior Osunde
God would not let the enemy attack me like this. That's why my heart is confident in I believe he will see me threw.

Junior Osunde
The path these cruel people want me to take is not accepted or tolerated. I'm only going to take the path God has for me he guides and I follow at his command

Texas Tech it is. Sorry world due to some issues i will now be a Red Raider. Im staying in the Great state of TX Big 12 here i come

Those are a few of his posts

Maybe he's on probation for something and they found out he left the state without informing his probation officer and getting their approval.

He signed so I assume he was enrolled? How would that work?

Did'nt he sign a LOI to play for Minnesota? If so how can he just switch over to Texas Tech. after the fact, would we have given or signed a release for him.
Just wondering.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Royston getting his 6th year?

Decommitted and recommitted? I'm not sure you have your facts straight.

My guess is the university has no choice but to release him. If there are legal problems that are forcing him to stay in Texas, you really can't hold him to his LOI. Does not do any good if he can't come to the university.

Exactly.

There are 2 issues. 1) Did he sign an LOI or a tuition agreement and if he signed an LOI did we release him to accept aid elsewhere. Pretty obvious that we would release him, and if we didn't that would be a huge A-hole move. 2) Did he attend a class at Minnesota. If he didn't (which appears to be true) than he is not considered a transfer and doesn't have to sit out.

Good luck to Junior in getting past whatever issues he has and having a successful college career and earning a degree.

He never signed a tuition agreement or attended class so he's fine to go anywhere else.

He may have signed a letter of intent but he never signed a tuition agreement. From what I understand, that makes him able to go somewhere else.

I could be way off, but I thought it was entirely about whether or not we would release him or not. For instance, I thought he could agree to a tuition agreement and if we released him from it, he could go elsewhere.

I thought the real question is whether or not he actually enrolled in classes, in which case he would have become a transfer.

That's too bad. He seemed like a kid that really wanted to be here. Unfortunate it didn't work out for him.

I hope that judge was not a Texas Tech graduate.

Did he sign LOI coming out of high school? My understanding is that a player can sign only one LOI in their career and that anything signed after the first is non-binding. If you sign a second, like if you are a juco picking a new school, it is for "show" only and it has no force. I think I learned this when taikwon paige or someone decommitted from the gophers after signing and went to auburn with roof.

My guess is that the legal system trumps an LOI. He's likely the victim of incomplete advice as to where he could legally go in terms of the rest of his education.

Hope he gets his life in order and succeeds at TT. but this is a warning to any and all who do stupid, seemingly harmless things, as a kid/young adult and don't think there will be ramifications.

Not sure what difference it makes but here he is signing with to gophers

What the document is matters. LOI = needs a release from the U to accept aid elsewhere... if the U of M didn't grant a release (which would be a ridiculous decision on our part) he would have to pay his own way; tuition agreement (common for Jucos) = can go elsewhere without release and without facing a penalty as long as he never attended a class, if he attended a class he has to sit out a year in residency because he is considered a transfer student.

Taikwon was never admitted to the U of M anyway. Regardless of what he signed it is a no brainer that you would release a kid that can't gain admittance to your school.
