per this update from Monter:

Junior Lomomba, a 6-foot-4 sophomore guard from Madison (WI) Memorial, is one of the top players in the Midwest. He is planning on visiting Minnesota next weekend. The Gophers have already extended a scholarship offer to Lomomba.

GoldenSports.Net caught up Lomomba’s uncle Hennessey Auriantal to learn the latest on his recruitment.

“His interest and offers are increasing. He got a couple of new schools who are showing some strong interest in him right now.”

Lomomba has scholarship offers from Xavier, Tennessee, Baylor, Minnesota, New Mexico State, State and Nevada and is receiving interest from Kansas, West Virginia, Florida, Cincinnati and Arizona State, according to Auriantal.

Go Gophers!!

What about Wisconsin?

No interest from Wisconsin?

No interest from Wisconsin?

UW does not like dealing with Hennessy Auriental, who is a mentor of sorts for Lomomba and I believe his uncle. Hennessy was also involved with Jeronne Maymon, which is presumably the reason Marquette is no longer mentioned with Lomomba.

UWOle, what's the deal with the relationship between UW and its former player, Auriental? Was there a falling out? Thanks for any insight.

Lots of rumors about the way Hennessy handles things in recruiting. I think it's very telling that UW and Marquette are not mentioned as possible destinations for a pretty good prospect from Madison.

Sign him up just for the joy of hearing his name on the Public Address system, who cares what his star rating is.

If the Gophers sign him, perhaps the pep band will have to brush up on its "La Bamba"?
