The Gophers will need Walker to be aggressive, and nasty, in the paint in the conference season. He admits that wasn't always a strength but said he's made strides in that area since he began playing in Canada.
"When I first started playing I was afraid to hurt people and I wasn't as aggressive as I am now," he said. "My teammates kind of pushed me over the top this season to really be a lot more aggressive and it's paying off."
Pitino, meanwhile, likes what he is seeing.
"A lot of (his development) is he's just working hard," Pitino said. "Every time it's his opportunity to get a rep he's trying to push himself to get quicker because he has to get quicker. He has some times during practice or in games where you can tell he sees big picture that he's getting better."
