per Judd:

The talk this week had been that the 4-1 Gophers could and should be 8-1 if they beat Northwestern and follow that with wins over bad Purdue and Illinois teams and then open November by beating Iowa at TCF Bank Stadium.

That would set up a three-game stretch to end the season against Ohio State, Nebraska and Wisconsin, with the final two on the road.

It's extremely dangerous for the Gophers faithful to ever get too far ahead of themselves when it comes to taking games for granted, and it appeared that mistake might have been made when Northwestern tied the score.

But then something very un-Gophers like transpired.

Defensive back Jalen Myrick, who had been called for pass interference on the Wildcats' game-tying drive, caught Jack Mitchell's kickoff 3-yard deep in the end zone. Myrick raced to his left, saw holes starting to open and turned on the burners.
