I'm sure recruiting JUCO guys is different (in protocol) than recruiting the high school guys, if anyone can elaborate that would be great. When do we start bringing guys like this in? Would it be after the season (December time frame, bring them in during Bball game?)?

Couple areas I would like to see us to get a top notch JUCO guy: DE, LB and Corner

I would like us to stay away from the Offensive JUCO guys, it just seems it takes too long to get themselves acclimated. Or maybe its just the WRs we've brought in in the recent years.

Thoughts??

Can you redshirt Juco guys? It just seems as was just said, that we lose at least half a season getting these guys up to speed. Better for them to sit out a year and come in ready and able. I think if a program were to do that they could add some seriously nice depth to their programs.

The juco offensive players need to be on campus working out in May not August because of the timimg factors. If Carpenter could have arrived when Wills did in January, Hayo would have his timing down with the QB's. An offensive player can't show up in August and expect to learn the offense in 3 weeks. I wish Carpenter was red-shirted so he would know the system and be ready for spring ball. Juco players are expected to be ready to step in and play but it's almost impossible if they don't show up before August.

Hey you guys have to give it up to production like this...

thats seems like a sad picture. i wonder what Pittman could do in the wildcat offense. he seems like a good athlete that might produce given the chance. he did throw a pretty ball in the bowl game last year. i am hoping that Hayo's time here is productive. he could be a big difference maker if weber gets over his man crush and realizes that if he starts spreading the ball around we could have a fun/explosive offense and decker would still get his numbers

Well Pittman did get hurt, but I agree with the OP in principle. If the transfer is not coming from a similarly run offense, it's probably best not to recruit them to sit on the bench.

Paris Hamilton comes to mind

He was suppose to be a big time WR from a JUCO for Mason. I think he caught one pass that mattered. I don't remember anything else from the guy, other than a bad knee too.

Pittman hurt a hamstring last season which can be brutal for a skill position guy. Carpenter has been here for 2 games, I think it's extremely unwise to make any sort of conclusions about his season at this point.

I agree with Sonny in that I'd love to see a JUCO DE (priority no.1) JUCO CB, and a JUCO LB. We certainly will have playing time to offer at those positions. I'd also love a JUCO RB if there is an elite one available.

I don't see how anyone could even bring Weber into this. As seen in the picture, the only way he could've thrown to Hayo at this point is if he fired one out-of-bounds and hit the bench in stride.

Nice quip!
