per the Journal Sentinel:

Chikwe Obasih finds the suggestion repugnant.

Lose to Minnesota and see the Gophers sprint to the Wisconsin bench area to take back Paul Bunyan's Axe? For the first time since 2003?

Not on Obasih's watch.

"In our minds the axe belongs to us," the redshirt sophomore defensive end said. "We're going to try and make sure it stays with us the rest of our careers here."

Obasih, who was a second-grader the last time UW lost to Minnesota, can help UW extend its winning streak in the rivalry to 12 seasons when the Badgers (8-3, 5-2 Big Ten) and Gophers (5-6, 2-5) meet at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.

UW secured the West Division title with a 34-24 victory over the Gophers last season. What is at stake for the Badgers this time? A victory likely secures an invitation to the Holiday Bowl, set for Dec. 30 in San Diego.

And denying Minnesota's players and coaches the axe for another year.

"There has been a tradition and a standard set of keeping the axe here," redshirt junior outside linebacker Vince Biegel said. "We've had the axe for 11 years now.

"The precedent has been set, to keep it in Camp Randall and keep it in the state of Wisconsin where it belongs."
