Since Sid didn't have any yesterday (too much Viking Info I guess) I thought I would post a few jottings of my own.

Cory Joseph 25 Min - 2/7 FG - 0/3 3Pt - 4 Reb - 3 ast - 3 TO - 4 PF - 5 pts Started for TX over Navy (exh).

Jai Lucas 6 pts in 24 Min off the bench - now a senior at Texas.

Harrison Barnes 24 Min - 2/9 FG - 0/4 3Pt - 6 Reb - 1 ast - 6 TO - 4 PF - 7 pts Started for Carolina over Barton (Ex).

Noah Dahlman - senior at Wofford is a Lowes Senior Class nominee along with Hoffarber.

Justin Stommes 6'7" senior Guard for Eastern KY from Rocori - suspended (Team Rules) for exhibition games and first 3 regular season games - should be back to face the Gophers later in the season.

Western KY plays St Joe Friday. Gophers play both teams WKY in PR Classic & St Joe in Philly.

Siena lost their 6th man - Downey for 3 weeks.

Ryan Wittman has finally graduated from Cornell and is playing BBAll in Italy.

Matt Janning done with Northeastern - now with Phoenix Suns.

NODAK ST - Mike Felt a Freshman from Redwood Falls made 5 3's off the bench scoring 22 pts in ND St's first Exh Win.

Erik Carlson - Jr from Shakopee had 23 pts in ND St's 2nd exh win.
 

Texas vs. Navy was not an exhibition. Both are D-I teams and the game was part of the 2K Sports Classic.

Also, Siena and Cornell would've been decent NC opponents last year but both will suffer a beatdown at the Barn this year.

Don't worry Sid would've made the same mistake.
 

Thanks rrjack111 I love that kind of stuff. Sid's jottings section is the only reason to read his column.
 

cory joseph really didnt impress that game, id take Al and devoe over him at the point this year

What are you some sort of comedian? Is that your job? How many people do you get to show up for your act? Of course it's an exhibition. At least Navy wants it to be. By the end of the year the admirals will be clamoring to bring back Bobby Knight. You probably don't remember he led them to a national championship with Joe Mays and Scott Bellino. You're too young for that. Why don't you grow up? Go listen to your Lady Haha music? I'll take Connie Channing anyday. I used to get front row seats to watch her in Funny Girl. Although I hear that that Lady Haha has some pretty fancy uniforms. Are you some sort of distant relative of Rick Barns? I'll tell you he couldn't hold a candle to Lou Holtz's jock strap when he was ball boy for the Minneapolis Lakers when I coached them. And another thing. Bud Kroehling never wanted that Texas job. If they would have offered it he wouldn't have taken it. I'll tell you the Gophers could do a lot worse than bringing in another Grant to turn around a struggling program. What a joke. We'll see what happens.

Dave, why don't we take another caller.

And the Gophers better build Arthur Anderson another domed stadium or they're gonna lose him to Cretin or some other program. He's the best coach the Gophers have had since Dick Sherbert.

Best Friday matchups

Most intriguing season-opening games to watch on opening night (Friday) are Seton Hall @ Temple & Georgetown @ Old Dominion. Especially important games for The Hall and ODU.

I'd put Wofford @ the Gophers as #3, even moreso if indeed Devoe is suspended for the opener. And could Northwestern's season opener in DeKalb vs. Northern Illinois be a little tricky?

Rhode Island-Pitt was a pretty nice way to start the season a couple nights ago. Entertaining game, Pitt had to work for it.
