... December, 2009: Younger brother of Atlanta Hawks rookie Al Horford and son of former 7'1 NBA player Tito Horford, Jon is a chip off the same block. He's a good low post scorer that really works the glass. He has great hands and keeps working hard to improve. He's a good, but not great athlete that seems to grow an inch every 4-5 months. He has a long wing span which helps him be a very good shot blocker. His range extends to 15 feet at this point, but he has a thin frame and he must add strength. His brother Al was solid at the same stage and with hard work, ended up a two-time National Champ and NBA Lottery pick. Jon is on the same path ...

Is Jon Horford currently a Junior?

Do you guys think this might have something to do with Royce?

I know people are tired of all this Royce talk, but if he really won't be back with the team, that should theoretically open another scholarship, right?

Signing Horford and Cory Joseph would make our recruiting class really strong....

No surprise here, but Jon Horford finally committed to Michigan yesterday (3/26/10).

He joins Michigan's 2010 class that already includes Tim Hardaway, Jr. - 6'5" guard... I think his dad might have played a little ball... and Evan Smotrycz, a 6'9" forward that can shoot the ball. The younger Hardaway had committed this past summer... good news is his game isn't the same as his dad's.. bad news is he's very good with his own game... they are hoping he is Manny-like... Smotrycz committed last spring... Smotrycz's RSCI ranking was #54 in the summer. He's good. May turn out REAL, REAL good. Out of Massachusetts (New Hampton), matched up a couple of times this year vs. Brewster Academy...

Michigan also has a stud recruit for the 2011 class - local product, guard Carlton Brundidge.
