John LeCarre Dies

Just coming here to post this. One of my favorite authors and yes, there were a lot of excellent adaptations of his work. Even late in life he put out quality work like A Most Wanted Man which ended up being the last film Phillip Seymour Hoffman finished.

It was fascinating to read his novel The Perfect Spy, then later read his autobiography. His dad was a boom and bust con man and The Perfect Spy seemed like LeCarre's way of dealing with the ridiculous ups and downs of dealing with a childhood that went back and forth from glamour and power to bankruptcy and shame.
