"Is former #Gophers coach Tim Brewster a candidate for Northern Colorado job? That's what I heard."

Go Gophers!!

If he is, good for him, I hope he can build a good coaching career. He just wasn't quite ready for this job in the Big Ten yet.

He probably would have been much better off starting his head coaching career at a lower level FCS school like Northern Colorado, gaining experience there and then progressing upward as merited, like most coaches do.

I hope he gets the job. I'd be very curious to see how he does as a HC at that level of football.

That would probably be an ideal gig for him right now, especially if he wants to continue to try at the collegiate level. 3-4 years of success in Greeley (who would have ever thought that beautiful Colorado could have such an ugly town?) could lead him back to a FBS team.

I always thought that Tim Brewster seemed like a quality human being who cares about the young men in his charge and wish him nothing but success.

I wish him luck. He could have gone back to being a position coach, and I can respect him wanting to prove that he can make it as a head coach. He'll do much better if he has a firm idea what he wants to do and sticks with it.

+1. Agree that he just wasn't quite ready to be the head man in a high profile job.

I think ever $$ he earns is one we don't have to pay. And I think he can succeed at that level if he learned his lessons, has a plan and hires decent coordinators.

I hope he gets it and I hope he has lots of success.

Agreed Brew should have begun at a school like this, established his offensive/defensive identities, cultivated his staff & then moved on to a job like the U. Colorado is his old stomping grounds, this makes a lot of sense. I wish him well.

Go get 'em Brew! I hope he does great. Will always appreciate his efforts off the field.

Big, big key for him to develop a personal coaching philosophy and stick to it with no waffling. Who does he want to be? What kind of coach does he want to be? What offensive and defensive philosophies does he want to emphasize and go with and STICK with?

He's got to develop a firm foundation of exactly what it is he wants to do as a football coach, and not rely on hired guns in the form of coordinators to develop those philosophies on the fly for him. The "Hey, I was once an ace recruiter for Mack Brown years ago" clearly is not enough. He's got to learn how to be a football coach, so for his sake I really hope he learned from the mistakes he made here and can move forward with those mistakes and painful lessons learned having made him a stronger person and hopefully a better football coach.

I really, really, really wish him the absolute best. I'll be rooting for him for sure.

I still think he has a future in being a recruiting director for some college team out there and hopefully he ends up somewhere and it works out for him.

Really hope he gets the job and succeeds. I wanted to see him do well here so badly, he is an easy guy to root for.

I agree -- you have to wish him the best and I hope he does well out there.

I think he learned a lot while he was here and will be a better coach if he gets the job there. Good luck Brew!

Good Luck to Brew and wish him nothing but the best. He was in over his head here but he worked his tail off and I think people can at least respect him for that. He made a lot of mistakes but I think he can have success in the long term if he sticks to it. Hell maybe if he can get the X's and O's part of it down he will come back here and finish what he started...Rose Bowl turf not dead yet!!

This. Just was way too unsure about what he truly wanted out of his football team (makes sense since he hadn't been a coach before) and he paid for it this season. I honestly believe if he came in with the philosophy he had in Year 1, we would have been in fine shape. Or even if he had stuck with the whole spread vibe and waited for the talent to groom we would have been alright. Just too much change to bring any cohesion to the program.

I hope he gets this job. I think he is a really good guy and still has a good future ahead of him.

Something told me he wouldn't want to be an assistant again. Good luck to Brew!

Good Luck Coach Brew.

Greeley is an ok town right on the fringe of the "nice" part of colorado, it's close enough to Denver that he should have some things to sell there. My wife did a rotation through there, small college town, nice new weight facility, ok tradition.
Ironic to me that two of my favorite Brewster victories were viewed in Greeley, the Bowling Green game where we came in and blew their doors off, and the Illini victory in 08'.

Once again good luck to Coach Brewster, hope he wins ALOT of Big Sky games and makes this prexy N very happy. ;)

Best wishes to Coach Brewster and the entire staff.

Except for the stink.

they were a d2 power back in the 90s, I believe (I think Joe Glenn, former Montana and Wyoming coach was the coach then).
