According to Joe Schad. This will make the B1G weaker ;)

Great, I was getting awfully sick of the man love for that guy.

Did he cry while making the announcement?

My first reaction. Seems like a good kid and all, but the man love was getting a bit much for me as well. Interesting to see how he does. He reminds me a bit of Jared Allen (except Watt is a bit bigger). Should be a good 4-3 DE at the next level.

JJ Watt will have a lot of value because he is big enough to play the DE on a 3-4 and he is athletic enough to be a DE on a 4-3. I don't think he will be a ton like Allen in the pros, only because I think of Allen as a guy who flies up the field and relies much more on his speed and burst than JJ Watt. I think Watt will probably play more strongside DE.

He is a good ball player and i'm sure he will have success.

I don't think he's strong enough at the point-of-attack for the 3-4 at the next level. He's strong for college, but I always thought his speed was his plus-plus tool. I agree that he's probably better suited for the strong side in a 4-3.

Nah. Watt couldn't hold Allen's jockstrap. Plus, Watt is WAY bigger and slower. Allen weighed 265 and ran a 4.7 at the combine. Watt is probably just a hair under 300 and would be lucky to break 5.0 in the 40. He will either be an under tackle or a 3-4 DE in the NFL, and not very good at either.

Agree is is not Allen, not many are. We'll see on his time at the combine, I bet he breaks 5.0. You are just a Badger hater.

No sh|t?

On a Minnesota board you unearthed THE hater of the red weasels! Well done.

Personally, I think he is much more than that. But I'm sure with your narrow vision, you wouldn't be able to see that.

He doesn't look like Allen. Yes, he is bigger. And yes, he's not as fast. But when all is said and done, I think he's going to end up being a better pass rusher than run stopper. After thinking about it, I agree with Bob_Loblaw that he's probably better suited to work on the left side of the defense.

What is this narrow vision you speak of? I dont get it? I was making a joke at the Kill picture guy...

I'm really going to miss his little celebration dance where he shakes his fists rapidly in front of his face, elbows pointed to the ground. I think it looks really cool. On a related topic, I remember that my little sister did that same dance after opening a present at Christmas one year when she was about 8 years old.

And if were a gopher doing that it would be the coolest thing since sliced bread.

He doth get windeth up. And no, it wouldn't be cool if a Gopher did it. I can't figure out kids these days.

At any rate, I think he's a great college player who should be a good professional player.

False.

A better attempt at a comeback would have been "your team doesn't have players good enough to have fans see a pattern of how they celebrate."

That too. But I would not call the Gophers "your" team. They are for all of us. :)

No way JJ runs ABOVE 4'95. He is a freak athlete. For those who want to compare JJ to Jared, at the same point in their career JJ is a far better prospect than JARED (Jared still can't play the run or get off TE blocks in the run game). He is an NFL sized DE with passing rushing speed, quickness and strength.

He is not a 3-4 DE, he is a protypical 4-3 strongside rush DE who may be able to play weakside rush end. JJ can play some under tackle but I don't see him being big enough to do that on the regular plus he is too athletic to be wasted there.

Probably stated previously, but he was originally a gopher commit 2 star 5.4 ranking at TE.

Hey gopherbadgerman...

How do you live with yourself?

I'm not calling you out, but I don't know how I could possibly do it, pledging allegiance to the Gophers AND the Badgers. I am certain I'd suffer a psychotic break.

Go Gophers!
