"I'm going to let those people play their games," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said Wednesday night after his sixth-ranked Orange beat Princeton 73-53. "I think they'll be doing that for the next 20 years. If they could figure it out and get it done in the next year, we wouldn't have to think about it.

"Maybe they should just have a draft, each conference should just draft teams ... except then they'd have to make a decision and they wouldn't be able to figure it out. Eventually, they'll get this thing figured out. They'll get all the teams moved and then in a year or two someone will say 'We need to take somebody,' ... But I'll be long gone by then."

"Rivalries don't matter to anyone anymore," Boeheim said. "If you ask someone at West Virginia if they like going to Texas Tech or Texas A&M and all those places, ask their fans whether they really like that. Maybe they do. I don't know. I don't get it. It's just the way it's going. There's nothing you can do about it.

"Like I said, if these guys (the conference commissioners) were running the United States in colonial times, Brazil and Argentina would be states because they have something we need. It's a great country."

Just kinda odd that he is talking about this now, but not after the school he coaches at moved to another conference.

It's just odd timing, that's all. Why not say this when they announced the Syracuse move? It comes off like he's complaining about everyone else, yet his school is doing the same thing.

September 19th, 2011. Jim Boeheim on Syracuse moving to ACC...

"If conference commissioners were the founding fathers of this country, we would have Guatemala, Uruguay and Argentina in the United States," Boeheim said. "This audience knows why we are doing this. There's two reasons: Money and football."

"We're going to end up with mega conferences and 10 years from now either I'm going to be dead wrong - and I'll be the first to admit it - or everybody is going to be like, why did we do this again? Why is Alabama playing Texas A&M this week and going to Texas Tech next weekend? And why is Syracuse going to Miami in basketball this week and next week they're going to play Florida State?"

My bad. I should know better than to state things without doing some research first. I blame it on the excess amount of turkey I had today.
 

He is right. This new movement blows. History be damned. Stupid.
