With all of the news comig out about coaches rejecting the Gophers, I would not be hugely disappointed if we ended up approaching Jerry Kill of NIU. If you look at the man's record, he has won everywhere in place very difficult to win. I have always been impressed with his team when they play MN. Well coached. If we "settle" for Tier III, he should be the guy.

I am in the "big name" splashy hire crowd. However, as a football fan I think he could be a great hire. Has a great consistent winning record, knows the midwest, very loyal coaching staff, great character and someone Minnesotans would love.

Coach Kill has been my #1 lack of big name choice all along. He has elevated three programs to the top of their divisions and NIU is enjoying a fantastic year.

But

he has had some VERY serious health problems the last few years. You have to wonder how long he will be coaching.

So get an intern to follow him around with a water bottle to make sure he stays hydrated. I'm not concerned about his health.

I was surprised to see NIU was ranked 25th in the BCS standings this year.

With all of the news coming out about coaches rejecting the Gophers...

What news?

Until we make an announcement that we hired the high school coach down the street, it's not worth stressing about. All of the "news" you are talking about is just back channel "gamesmanship". In my small mind, it's more likely that news such as "coach A turned us down" is actually his counter reaction/statement (i.e. saving face) to us ruling him out.

It makes me feel so much better to know that our new cancer survivor head coach's "undisclosed health issues" are "not cancer related".......
