So what will our Defense be, is it gonna be the 4-3 or what. starting a NCAA 2011 season with the Gophers.

The fact that Kill said he was concerned about about our depth just proves the last regime was not developing the players. We have what 80 scholarship players and we didn't have a 2 deep let alone thinking about a 3 deep. Kill gets defense. You need to be strong at the line of scrimmage, and that means 4 good lineman, and 2 corners. Where were we the worst this year? 4 out of 6 of those guys were a big weakness this year, and that explained a lot of our defensive problems. Kill will probably watch videos and laugh at our pass rush.

The Illinois and Iowa games proved we could do it, though. We'll only be missing Collado, and have some up and comers. With a bit more coaching this D will be fine...

BTW I think Kill is a bigger man than that.

Finally, somebody sees things clearly and it is the HEAD COACH. This is wonderful. A breath of fresh air.

I agree completely. Our defense should be much improved simply by virtue of experience next season, in addition to the things Kill and his staff are able to teach them. Let's face it, we had the youngest and greenest defense in the conference this season, with 11 new starters on D. So they got thrown into the fire and took their lumps in a big way this season, but that's all part of the learning process, especially when you're trying to learn it on the fly like that. We will be better defensively next season, and I would bet the darn mortgage on that. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I know the defense made some strides. Obviously much more so against Iowa than Illinois. D wasn't that impressive against Illinois, we just won that game. I'm just saying we struggled almost all year with a pass rush, there is no denying that. Kill likes fast ends, and physical corners. I think he will make Stoudemire a great corner, and we know Carter has the potential. I wouldn't doubt it at all if he converts a couple of the bigger linebackers to ends. Who are our fastest ends right now?
