Any updates on Jason? I know he had an injury last year, but was praised a lot up until that point.

Lots of bodies in the backfield - Ibrahim, Wiley, Williams, Potts, Thomas. It would be nice to see Williamson get some carries, but that may have been more likely before it became a schedule of nothing but conference games.

Is he still a running back?

He was mentioned by PJ in a previous press conference as an option at RB

I have literally zero to back this up, but I wonder if he will end up in the same situation as Johannesson?

Right now, all we have is a clearly established #1 option. We know PJ likes to use at least 3, maybe 4 backs. There is a fair chance - with another great year - that Mo could get his degree and go to the NFL after this season. Regardless of whether that happens, it appears to be open season for spots 2, 3 and 4. Without knowing how Williamson is looking in practice, it seems way too early to be talking about him transferring.

I'd say if he clearly is not getting any sniffs through this season and 2021 spring ball, then maybe he/they will consider a position change. But it's not like it was when Johanneson was here and there were 2-3 well-established backs who had multiple years of eligibility left.

I thought he originally was going to be a corner

I recall, vaguely, that he was told he would get a shot to be a running back --- and he even looked good before he torn up his knees in spring practice --- but he projected to be a linebacker.

I’d be surprised to see him as a linebacker based on high school basketball BUT he is listed at 6-2 210 on last years roster so maybe so.
Just didn’t look like a LB on the court... He did seem to have the mindset to get after people though. 😁
And time flies, I’m sure he’s bigger now.

You refreshed my memory. What you said is what I remember now. Will see what happens. With a year to prove himself as a running back or switch to linebacker during a no count year as to class status might be the key.

He's staying at RB and no chance of transferring. He'll get some carries- he's been 2, 3, or 4th option at various times during recent practices.

No one was suggesting he might transfer immediately. Johannesson didn't.

Talented kid, I am sure a good coach can find a position for his talent.

If he is happy being a Gopher and has a good attitude, that is money in the bank for the team. We need more of these type of role players on the roster.

I hope he heals up well and put in the hard work. He may end up a secret weapon opponents will overlook in a critical game.

I mean I've seen some of his HS films. This kid can do damage with his speed if you are asleep.

No inside insight on the kid but will be interesting to see if any of his video game like numbers from high school translate to the next level. Maybe he will go the MB3 route of a kid that wasn't supposed to make it at RB but who turned out to be a gem. RB is definitely a position where you need lots of bodies, and while Mo would seem like the clear cut #1 guy there will be carries to go around for the others and the opportunity for young guys to step up and make an impact.

There was discussion if he didn't stay at RB he might move to safety. Never projected at LB.

I would definately give him a shot at kick off returns. Williamson has surprising jet's and he is fast. Would not be surprised in the least if he get's some carries to spell Ibrahim.
