Believe or not, some actual intelligent Gophers disucssion on PA today. Brewer called a Bowl Game a success, and thinks we will have a QB controversy on our hands sooner than later. He was also very candid about his thoughts on Brewster not being real strong in year 1, but he said he can definitely see the vision and the improvements that have happened.

If KFAN could get him on every week it might actually give them some credibility when it comes to the Maroon and Gold.

KFAN could put together a decent gopher show if they wanted to,....Justin Conzemius is on the morning show every thursday morning, he knows what he's talking about. He and/or Brewer have way more insight into the program than every one else on the station...they clearly just dont care about the gophers that much...KFAN is run by the Vikings, and that is the way it will probably stay as long as they do the vikings games on the radio.

The segment was embarassing

"I like Brewster because of the coordinators that he has brought in. Like Lockwood."
- PA

It made me call the station and go off on the lackey that answered the phone.

Me: Lockwood was a Mason guy, he was not hired by Brewster.
Lackey: Oh boy.
Me: It is embarassing when you can't get simple things right about the one and only d-1 football program in the state. That last segment was an embarassment.
Lackey: Okay, good for you.

Brewer was just as embarassing as he failed to correct PA on any of the stuff that he was completely wrong about.

Another of my faves by PA: "I don't know much about college football, but man, was Mason a good in-game coach."

Dude, that is why he was let go. Because he was a bad in-game coach. Good initial game plan, but no adjustments.

"If KFAN could get him on every week it .. Paul Allen said that Brewer will be on every week which is great news...unless of course Barrerio puts a stop to it!:D

i actually think KFAN has done a good job this week covering the gophers and i am very suprised since the vikings open there season this weekend. brewer is going to be on every thursday and starting next week he will be on post game as well with lake and JG.

KFAN as a whole has been extremely subpar ever since they made their budget cuts. 2 of the new side kicks that chime in from time to time have been dredful with their facts and statements and often pronounce names wrong.

Nice - I missed that

I'm glad he'll be on every week...something to look forward to on Thursday's on KFAN.

The Lockwood comment was brutal, but that's PA - totally clueless about NCAA Football. I just thought the candid insight from Brewer was refreshing, even though some of the stated facts were not accurate.

Had low expecations for Brewer but was very impressed with his Gopher analysis. One of the few to acknowledge last year's team overachieved.

Yea Mason was a great in-game coach which is why the Gophers blew so many games late where they had more than one score leads, give me a break.

Why all the KFAN hating going on? KFAN is a Viking station and we know that, they know that, everyone knows. In fact, I don't think they claimed to not be. CCO does plenty of gopher coverage. Let KFAN be the Vikings station and let CCO be the gopher station. No big deal.

I would like to ask Jack if he thinks AFA could beat Syracuse.

If you include play calling as an adjustment, I agree. I often found myself playcalling while watching a Mason game, especially ones that we were leading late. I can remember many times, in anticipation of a play, saying "Run it!! A quick trap, the d-linemen are tired and our guard will cut the poor bastard in half" or "Throw it, we have them set up perfectly for a play action pass!" They would seemingly always do the opposite, and pay consequences. Playcalling was clearly a part of what got Mason fired.

To be fair, I thought he was trying to be sarcastic.

actually, it is kind of a big deal from a purely sports perspective. where i think gophers fans get upset at KFAN is because their general listener is of a younger coveted sports demographic (probably 18-40 yrs old) and WCCO is generally of a older listening demographic (40+). i would guess that most people who listen to WCCO for gophers sports news are already die-hard gophers fans and have been fans for a while. you are not going to change their mind one way or the other. however, younger folks who might not be sure yet which local teams they really want to get behind and support listen to KFAN more frequently and then get inundated with this anti-gopher, anti-brewster crap & sometimes just plain lies from the barrerio's, justin gaard's & formerly chad hartman's of the world.

I agree.

the only good thing KFAN has ever done

was to fire Hartman. That put a smile on my face for a week.

Hey Doogie

Would love to hear some positivity about KFAN and their Gopher coverage... anything?

You don't have to burn bridges just tell us something we don't know. I want a reason to like KFAN after all.

Or if you'd like to chime in and rip the station we are all ears :D
