per the ever-popular Echo Press in Alexandria:

It’s time for University of Minnesota men’s basketball coach Tubby Smith to shut up his critics. Smith’s tenure at Minnesota has been mired in mediocrity for five years now. Many Gopher fans simply look at the numbers when deciding his level of success. His 103 wins through five seasons is the most in any coach’s first five years in program history.

Go Gophers!!

Hard to argue. This team should not be hovering around the .500 (conference) mark when March rolls around. Should be legitimately competing for a Big Ten Tournament bye (top 4) and a good seed (#4 to #6) in the NCAA Tournament. That's what I'm shooting for heading into the NCAA tourney. Stay healthy, boys.

I like that the writer emphasized players do improve while playing for Tubby. The argument that Tubby doesn't develop players easily is the most idiotic one I see on GopherHole. That's absolutely false.

Agree, SS, and yet there are Holers idiotic enough to argue with those that claim that.

This is one of your more obscure links.:)

He definitely has the personnel in place to shut up the critics. I agree with SS, this is a year where we should compete for a top-4 spot in conference. Also, the argument about players not improving is nonsense.

I respecfully disagree. The argument that the Gophers never score on inbounds plays is the most idiotic. The lack of improvement is second.

Ok, OK, OK....You both are correct. The important thing is Tubby is going for his career win #500 at USC. I really think our Gopher Players want this milestone out in California, where AuEGO4 is representing our fan base. Look for him at floor level across from the Gopher Bench, cheering us on, with signs of optimism and glory. #500, bring it on.

Go AuEGO4 and

GO GOPHERS!!!

The argument was that we never got an open look right out of them. Not that we never score. That has changed this year, however.
