@MNGopherHoops: Will Trevor Mbakwe return to the #Gophers for the 2012-13 season? #Unfinished Business http://t.co/gA6cr5YQ

Apologize if the youtube video doesn't work as it is from Twitter, but the video is Trevor shooting free throws and Rodney yells from the stairs "Yo Trev, Let's go, what are you doing man?" Trevor shoots a free throw and Rodney yells again "You coming back?" Trevor shoots again and says "I'm Coming back ... We have some unfinished business"

The screen then says "Unfinished Business - Gopher Basketball 2012-2013"

Much better than any video Royce White ever put out!

Beat me too it. Just saw the vid. GREAT news!!

Absolutley great news!!!!!!! Too bad Trevor didn't shave "Coming Back" into his hair like Nerlens Noel did for his college choice, oh well, still a cool idea.

Thanks for posting the CPU link for the video as well!

Now anything that happens going forward is just gravy (Extra scholly for Trevor, Chip returning, a spot for Lockett, etc.)

but

PG: Andre Hollins
SG: Austin Hollins
SF: Rodney Williams
PF: Trevor Mbakwe
C: Walker / EE

is a pretty nice line up.

or go smaller with

PG: Andre Hollins:
SG: Austin Hollins
SF: Joe Coleman
PF: Rodney Williams
C: Trevor Mbakwe

Should be an exciting year! Barring, what Dpo would call, Tubby taking a hammer to any players injurable body parts.

I'm excited already. Which means that the entire team will probably simultaneously break their legs at Howard Pulley this summer.

Sad, but true.

I haven't brought this up for my own safety, but when Gopher football was getting killed, I had a twitter exchange with Nadine about being excited for Gopher hoops, until, I predicted Trev would break his leg because that is just life for Gopher fans (and players) ... Well, we all saw what happened. Sorry about that.

This squad will be able to ball with anyone!

4/5 of the starting line up should be rivals 150 players with Austin being the only one who wasn't. You'd also likely have one as your 6th man.

I realize those aren't always accurate, but this team should be pretty darn good and does seem to have a bit of talent.

Will Trevor be 100% healthy at the start of the year?

HUGE!!! Love it! It's nice to have young man wanting to stick around.

An important stat, IMO, is that at the begining of the 2012-2013 season, the average Gopher player will have PLAYED an average of 1.11 seasons with the Gophers. Only 3 players have never been through a Big10 conference schedule (the 2 freshman and Mo Walker) and only the two freshman have never played a game in maroon and gold. That is a very good thing. Average years total with the team is 1.54 years.

For much of last season, the average Gopher player (Not including Mo or Trev) had played only .73 seasons with the Gophers and 6 players had never put on a Gopher uniform or played in the Big 10 before. Average years with the team total was 1 year.

Basically, it is great having only one transfer this year and some continuity with the team.

Will Trevor be 100% healthy at the start of the year?

He tore his ACL, let's say November 30th, 2011 (I know it was before then). A quick google search told me the average recovery time from a torn ACL is 6-9 months. Staring that time frame on December 1st, 2011 puts us at between May 1st, 2012 and August 1st, 2012. First exhibition game is usually around November 7th, or 3 months after expected recovery time and nearly a full year after the injury.

My guess is that they won't rush him back though, so maybe have him start practicing about a month before the season starts? Giving him about 11 months to have recovered. He was shooting free throws in "The decision" video, so that is a good sign at least.

Its going to be nice to see some buzz in the Barn!

Agreed. The NIT run + a likely pre-season ranking should do wonders.

Congrats Maturi, the preferred seating may not result in you never showing your face at the Barn again!

We are Top 25 already.

Should be at least!

Hopefully Tubby and the team are hungry as ever this year! Could be a good season.

I really hope we see a shortened bench next year.

When was the last time this team had a pre season ranking? Should be an exciting year.

Trevor the comedian lol

“@TMbakwe32: I'M BACK GOPHERNATION!!!!!! I promise this will be my last year though. I'm running out of classes to take lol”

“@TMbakwe32: #imgetting2old4college when I find myself telling bedtime stories to my teammates on road trips.”

“@TMbakwe32: #imgetting2old4college when my first game at Marquette was filmed in Black & White”

(Drew Crawford of NW response -
“@TheRealDrewski1: @TMbakwe32 lmao you prolly played on D Wade's team”)

“@TMbakwe32: #imgetting2old4college because gas was 89 cents my freshman year.”

“@TMbakwe32: #imgetting2old4college when I'm on a first name basis with every Professor at the U and they think I'm on staff.”

“@TMbakwe32: #imgetting2old4college when I have to put my head down when I walk by the freshman dorms lol”

Finished the year 21-14 (9-9) with an NCAA tourney first round loss.

I'll get hammered by the "expectations" crowd, but I would be thrilled with a 9-9 or better season next year. Ball security is the #1 issue going into next year.

I figured as much, but good stuff indeed, his leadership was needed out there. Hopefully now we got a slate of guys who can step up as leaders after last season.

Hard not to be at least a tiny bit hyped for next year, even for the pessimist fans. Obviously the regular season didn't go well, but confidence was clearly gained during postseason, and now combining that team with easily their best player and potential All-B1G guy in Mbakwe, and it could finally be the year we've looked for.

Like has been the case the last three years, it's gonna still come down to guard play. But I think we're on the right track in that regard. So many close calls last year, if those can just be flipped, we're a 12 win team in the B1G at least. Can we just have one year where things come together, ala the FF run that never happened?

Mbakwe will be 24 when the Big 10 season starts. Talk about a man among boys ... pretty funny to think of a 24 yr old going up against 18 year olds. Reminds me of when we had "the paratrooper" Richard Coffey. Hopefully Mbakwe dominates the boards like that.

There are all of these official announcements today, but nobody's saying where the scholarship comes from. Is it implied that Chip's transfer is official and we're not seeking the 14th scholarship from the NCAA?

Chip's transfer is official, I'm pretty sure he's been released from his scholarship and is free to go. Mbakwe will now take his scholarship.

I think they have given Chip the option to leave, but I thought I just read yesterday that Tubby said it wasn't a done deal that he is leaving.

PG - Andre Hollins 30, Welch 10
SG - Coleman 25, Welch 15
SF - Austin Hollins 28, Williams 12
PF - Williams 18, Mbakwe 22
C - Mbakwe 8, EE 12, Walker 20

I'd like to see Oto get some minutes as well but I just don't see it. We'll see though.

My complete guess, Chip is gone, but Tubby still wants that NCAA waiver so he is going to act like they still expect Chip to change his mind and then be full again. Then suddenly, chip wont actually change his mind and we can sign Trent with the scholly. Not sure if the NCAA can take a waiver away after they grant it. Bit of a conspiracy theory, but eh.

From the contract/LSU thread. Apparently he said it on the radio show.

Tubby said that Armelin not necessarily gone, and Mbwake not guaranteed to be back on Sid and Dave this morning.
