Here it is. Guess the who the new coach will be and the date of announcement.

The winner gets bragging rights.

My Guess:

Mike Leach, December 1st.
 

I will get on this as soon as I finish my 500 word essay for Red Lobster Gate. So many contests around here. Oh, and you will most assuredly lose your contest. No way Leach gets the offer.
 

No way Leach would be hired by U of M. Sid has a better chance of being Pope and just for the record Sid does not believe in firing Popes.

why do you think this. I would think the only reason would be not enough speed around here to run the spread.

I disagree. Maturi said he wants to hire a recognizable name that would bring instant credibility to the program. Leach fits that perfectly. Leach is hands down my #1 choice. I assume you're saying there's no chance because of the controversy surrounding his firing but with how desperate Maturi is to make a good hire I think Leach is a serious contender to land here.

The biggest problem with Leach is not the Adam James incident, it is all the fighting with the Texas Tech university and the chancellor . Leach is very head strong and kind of a goofball. Don't get me wrong he can coach but I don't think the present regime wants to leave a possible defiant head coach in place. As a fan I don't care if he is hard on his players and talks about their fat little girlfriends but the AD and president will.

I share the same thoughts on Leach. Leach will always blame Craig James for his demise, but I think that was just the linchpin for a decision that Texas Tech administration was probably dying to make.

For my prediction: Al Golden on Monday, December 6.
 


Mike Bellotti - November 30

The more I think about it, the way Oregon was really into material things like the Nike apparel & their ridiculous locker room, I could see Bellotti walking into TCF and thinking it's a place he could do business. The thought of his being able to show recruits our locker room might make him salivate as much as any coach out there.

Nov 1. Perfect choice for the U. The admin will be able to say Dungy recommended him if things don't go well.
 


Coach Klein, December 1st.

He has done a great job at South Central Louisiana State, and his development of players such as Bobby Boucher was outstanding. Not sure if his legendary playbook / offense would work in the BigTen or not though.

Trestman, December 10th

Has booster and media support and local boy makes good. Plus I think that it's odd that for a possible front runner he has been strangely silent. Something is brewing.

I don't want Trestman, so hopefully I'm wrong and it will be Calhoun, same date. He has seen The Bank and hopefully liked it and can imagine himself here.
 


Troy Calhoun- December 8th - my birthday, this would make a great present.
 

I'm going to take the chicken(bleep) route and offer 3 guesses.....all of different senarios.

Currently not coaching: Mike Belotti, December 7th

Current coach: Troy Calhoun, December 9th

Darkhorse candidate: Gary Pinkel, December 2nd
