On the court a longer ramp up time should help Richard Pitino (assuming there is a season of course) as it will give the new pieces more time to gel. A delayed start to the season could also theoretically help Eric Curry recover from his injuries, but I believe that might be a stretch. With so many new faces, you would think the Gophers/Pitino would benefit from more practice time than the average team.
Off the court the pandemic is a boon for Richard Pitino personally in regards to his employement. There's a very real chance now that he could be the coach in '21-'22 despite another losing record this year. I am pretty confident he would not have been retained in March had Covid-19 not hit the country and Mark Coyle couldn't have been more clear in his expectations for '20-21 and beyond when he announced Pitino would remain the head coach.
