SH seems to be the talk on this board, that's for sure. I have no idea what SH plans to do, but it's encouraging to know that it appears Minnesota is still getting consideration.
Internet threads going back over a year had suggested that USC was the front runner in landing Henderson. Of course, that probably changed with the exit of Pete Caroll.
To me, Kiffin is an enigma. Here's a local guy, who happens to have a well respected father in the coaching business, that seems to be loathed by many in the coaching ranks. He's had short gigs at high profile places and continues to get a better job than what he had. I've never heard him say anything outrageous, but he just gives that feeling of being "slick". John Calipari, Rick Pitino come to mind. Is he teflon, or will he fall? And, more importantly to Gopher fans, does he still have a shot with SH?

No.

John Calipari and Rick Pitino are actually good coaches. Sure, they're dirty, but they win.

Little Laney hasn't proven anything outside of his ability to get good coaches to put their egos aside and work for him.

Calipari is filthy. Laney is rollin' around in the mud, but still isn't on Calipari's level yet.

Calipari has refined the art, Laney is still learning, but from the same mold.

Lane is like our politicians. He's great at 'getting elected and re-elected' but really hasn't accomplished anything.

How many Kiffin-coached teams have had to vacate BCS Bowl appearances?

None. He hasn't proven he can get there yet ... or close to it.

alas, it could be coming. he was the o-coordinator for the most prolific offense in college football history, the team featuring Leinart, Bush, White, Jarrett, steve smith, byrd, etc. the team that lost the title game to Texas. that wasn't norm chow, that was Lane's OC year.

but, with reggie bush, they may have to vacate that season, and the season prior. speculation at this point, but many signs point to THAT as the imminent NCAA violations.

Lane is a far better coach than he's credited, per the kids that play for him, and the improvements he's brought to programs. Jonathan Crompton doubled his output, as did the TN offense in one year under Kiffin, and that was without their AA RB from the year prior. The Raider offense doubled their output under Kiffin vs. the prior year.

He's brash, arrogant, cocky...people hate him, but he is a pretty good offensive mind per most of the people that know (ie players and other coaches)

I know you're biased toward USC. But offensive output means nothing. They don't hand out trophies and contract extensions for head coaches based on offensive output. Mitch Browning would be the head coach somewhere if that were the case. This is the bottom line: 12-21. He took a 2-win Raider team and turned it into a 4-win Raider team. He took a 5-win Tennessee team and turned it into a 7-win team. Whoop-ti-do. He may someday be a great coach, but he has proven nothing other than, like I said, being able to put good coaching staffs together.

So what your saying is he is +1 on Brewster.

You're barking up the wrong tree. I've never said Brewster is anything special. All I'm willing to do is what every real Gopher fan should do - give the guy a chance to finish out his initial contract and make a decision at that point.

But this thread isn't about Brewster, so I don't even know why you're bringing it up.

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Criticism is fine and all, but continually crapping on Brewster out of the blue shows what trolls some of the posters here are. It's really sad.

agreed. he was hired on potential (and perhaps continuity) more than anything else. right now, he's just a really good recruiter, a good offensive mind, and is surrounding himself with good coaches. he hasn't shown he can motivate college kids for a full season.

I still can't believe that during the Al Davis/Kiffen marriage, Kiffen was the shady one.
