Is it just me... or is it time for Marquise?

Don't get me wrong, Minnesota's last game against Purdue was a well played game.... by the special teams unit and our defense. But, we were still lacking one very important part of the team (OUR QB!). Two interseptions in one game is becoming just too typical for this guy, if not worse. Adam Weber is simply just not getting done. Just think of what it's going to be like next year without his trusty lifeboat, Eric Decker. He'll be a complete wreck. In my opinion, this guy should be on the bench, and we should give Marquise Grey a chane. Weber needs a lot more practice, and, Marquise could use the experience. What do you guys think? Should we give the freshman a chance?

(This is my first post, so plz don't blow up at me for not reading the forum all the time. Thnx fellow gopher fans!)

We need another thread on this? Really?

you must not read this board. it's clearly just you.

I think it is a troll. Two posts, and joined GH right now. Perhaps it is Upchurch building his own momentum with a second account.

alright, serious time. we're going to penn state and to ohio state for our next two games. do you really think it's time to start a freshman qb who has thrown 1 pass this season? we're 4-2(2-1). think about it really hard. is it time to give up on the season? we're two wins away from a bowl game.

NO

I am just as critical of Weber as anyone else, its deserved at this point. Gray is very raw and is not the answer at this point. He will be, but not now.

I think next year we will have a true 2-QB system. With the loss of Decker and Gray having another year of learning there will be no way to keep him off the field.

On a side note, it is very evident that Whaley is our best running back and he needs more carries.

Absolutely. Toss the season. Bench Weber, play Gray, watch Gray get a career ending injury via our swiss cheese line, and throw away the next three years. Not to mention fire Brew, hire our new head coach from Old Dominion, attempt to rebuild, fail, fire Maturi, lose support from the alumni and the school administration, watch TCF become Metrodome II. Anyone care to continue?

I don't want to see Gray start against Penn State or Ohio State.......

Credit where credit is due... great post!

I hope he can get some significant action against South Dakota State.

Who is Marquise? We have a recruit that spells his first name Marquise but he is still only a senior in HS. We also don't have anyone on the roster with the last name Grey. Who is the OP talking about?

And yes, I am frustrated by people that don't even know a player's first or last name.

Do u know NOTHING about gopher football? For christ sake here people, u guys all need to go to anger management. You are chewing out a fellow gopher football fan, would u guys all mind just going on a badger site and chewing them out? I don't read the damn posts because I'm new to the site. And if you have no idea who Marquise Grey is, you have a problem. This site is TERRIBLE. Thanks, you guys are the TRUE GOPHER FOOTBALL FANS. You all really make Tim Brewster proud I'm sure. A bunch of assholes on a website chewing out other gopher football fans. Thanks guys for the fantastic replies. You really make this site worth being on.

You spelled the name wrong.....jackass

There is something ironic about bashing someone's spelling on a football forum. Perhaps we should have a wine tasting party and discuss the merits of proper spelling and gourmet cheese.

Badger Rival you flunked spelling! LOL. I also think you are wrong about changing QB's. First. like some of the other posts I think it's not the right time to put a rookie in with Penn State and OSU coming up. Also, I listened to Brewster's comments about Weber and his point about Weber's play calling and leadership are critically important. It's easy for me to watch the game and be critical of Weber, which I am. The hard part for me is to remember that throwing the football is only a small part of the QB role.

There's a least five or so threads about Weber on pages two and three alone. That explains the responses.

Yes it is time for Gray, Weber is terrible and getting worse with each passing week (no pun intended)

Not to single you out. But this is exactly what is wrong with this site lately. Speaking in absolutes. Weber needs to be better, there are things he can do better. And maybe Gray could do those things better. I think he could, but there are things he could do alot worse. None of it is black and white, it's all shades of gray. Discussion is found in the shades of gray. There is little good discussion that can come out of calling a three year starter terrible.

Again not calling you out, as your remark is tame compared to others. But it's this form of posting that is borne out of KFAN shock journalism that makes the site less interesting and less useful for discussion.

Weber locks in on 1 receiver (Decker), makes bad throws, and does not make something out of nothing (our line is sub par). I believe Gray could be an improvement in those areas. Weber has toughness and maturity and has been in tough situations before. Gray is not an improvement in those areas because lack of experience but he could get those attributes in time. I do not believe Weber is the QB to lead the team to a Big Ten Title, Gray may not be that QB either but at least he has not proven that yet like Weber.

As I said in the last forum, here is a hint. If you want to be taken seriously on here, A. Spell players names correctly. B. Try not to repeat a thread that has been drawn out already. A little research and spell check will make leaps and bounds in the "credibility" of your posts.

I believe Gray will be the QB when we win the Big Ten Title. I just don't believe it's this year. Or even next. I firmly believe that by the time Gray is a senior he will be significantly better than Weber as a senior. I just don't think making the change this year, is good for the team now, or good for Gray right now.

It would be fun to talk about gray and weber with out this debate. There is so much to talk about. But we can never get there.

I see that RichRod yanked Forcier and put in Washington (?). Washington brings something that Forcier doesn't have (outstanding runner) but he also threw a bad/weak INT. Some think that playing Gray might create a similar scenario here. Of course Weber's first INT was also a floater that the safety had measured from the time it left Weber's hand. But then I also think that it was stupid to throw a long pass into the teeth of that wind - the coaches have a lot to think about.

Gray is our 4th leading rusher with just 10 attempts and our 9th leading receiver. Given a chance, he would do better than 6 tds and 8 interceptions. Michigan is doing pretty well with 2 freshmen qbs. We have seen Weber regress. Let's watch Gray progress. And, no, Schnauzer, I don't have an alias. But thnx for the pub
