Is Emmett Johnson biggest local star that was not offered a scholarship? I know I must be forgetting some. Watching him run against Iowa today. I know we lost a few who we offered but went elsewhere but to not have offered him big miss.

Nope, I don't think so, but he is an interesting case nonetheless. He was undersized coming out of Holy Angels with a very slim offer list. I think he's good but I don't think he's better than a healthy (pre-injuries) Darius Taylor or Mo Ibrahim. That being said, he's the type of kid that PJ should be getting.

NDSU has had several kids that the Gophers missed on over the years. A few others that have ended up at nearby schools

As far as Darius Taylor goes as Bud Grant used to say durability trumps ability..

Carson Wentz would probably be a bigger one in terms of easy recent history (and given there is no FBS team in ND, yes I view them as local).
Also insert a bunch of random lineman who have ended up at NDSU
Evan Hull (NW RB now in NFL) also wasn't offered.

Just football or all sports. Gopher hockey didn't offer Ryan McDonaugh, Hoops didn't offer Jordan Taylor, football let Evan Hull get out of the state

Right but how do you determine that in recruiting when there are no previous issues.

No of course you can't forsee future injuries. I said this to respond to his claim that a healthy DT is better than Emmett. That's like saying I could be a great WR if I could caught a pass.i can't catch a pass and DT can't stay healthy.

And the thing about Wentz was ... pretty much everyone missed on him.

Off the top of my head, Trey Lance was a top 5 pick in the draft.
