Jeezum. Very good player too. That's very unfortunate, and hopefully he'll get his act together and his head on straight before it's too late and he completely mucks his life and future up.

It sounds pretty damn serious too, 'multiple narcotics violations'.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is being held in Johnson County Jail and is expected to make an initial appearance in the morning, according to a Johnson County Jail officials.

Johnson-Koulianos was arrested by Iowa City Police and faces multiple counts of possession of controlled substances, keeping a drug house and two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drugs.

Johnson-Koulianos, Iowa’s career leader in receptions and receiving yardage, was a first-team all-Big Ten pick this season. He caught 46 passes for 745 yards and 10 TDs this season.



Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz issued the following statement Tuesday night:

“I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges. Derrell has been suspended from all team activities.”

I'M GLAD HE MADE IT THROUGH THE ENTIRE SEASON THOUGH. CONSIDERING WE'RE GOING TO A MEANINGLESS BOWL GAME AFTER CHOKING AWAY OUR LAST MONTH OF THE SEASON, NO BIG DEAL.

Johnson-Koulianos, 23, and roommate Brady Cooper Johnson, 21, both of 1128 E. Washington St., were taken into custody around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday after officers executed a search warrant as part of a drug investigation, criminal complaints state.

I'M AMAZED THE IOWA CITY COPS ARE CAPABLE OF ANYTHING MORE THAN WRITING DUI CITATIONS AND BUSTING THE OCCASIONAL KEGGER PARTY THAT GETS OUT OF HAND

Investigators found more than $3,000 in cash, marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs in the house, police said.

THEY SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO DRINKING GRAIN ALCOHOL LIKE THE REST OF THE LOCAL POPULACE

Officers located a small amount of marijuana in Johnson-Koulianos’ bedroom. Upon arrest, Johnson-Koulianos told police he smokes marijuana and that he’d smoked it within the past 24 hours. A urine test showed a preliminary positive for marijuana and other drugs, criminal complaints state.

PROBABLY SOME HORSE TRANQUILIZERS, TOO

After media day in August, Johnson-Koulianos was banned from speaking to the media.

Sad story?

Innocent until proven guilty. I guess we'll see how it all washes out. Johnson-Koulianos has (or had) an NFL future. His resume includes being the Hawk Eyes career leader in receptions and receiving yardage. This year...1st team All Big Ten...46 rec. for 745 yards and 10 td's. I hope he didn't just throw it all away.

After watching DJK make a ton of plays...I could have sworn McNutt was the one on drugs.
 



Their all-time leading WR will be remembered for his off the field acts rather than on field. Sad.
 


DJK was arrested yesterday at 1:50 in the afternoon.

The only question I would have is which class was he in when the police officers came in, interrupted class, cuffed DJK, read him his Miranda Rights, and hauled him off to the crow bar motel??

Could he have been in his Biochemistry class? Or was it his Micro-Economic Theory class? Or perhaps he was in Differential Equations at the time???
