Saw a tweet that Iowa lost its TE Coach/Grad. Assistant to Texas Tech. First response from a tweet was he was fleeing a sinking ship. I have to agree that Iowa may be on its way to the bottom of the league that only a new coach could stop the momentum. Off field issues, coaches retiring/leaving, etc.

Does MN. have a division rival in the rear view mirror?

They also had to recently pull a scholarship from one of their instate verbals because he had too many run ins with the law.

Further indication that they do attempt to run a tight ship, how successfully.....well there is room for improvement. While I am well aware of the issues they have had, I also know the leash has always been pretty short in Iowa City. The ramifications have been severe and rightfully so as some of the actions have been steep too. I think it’s more about perhaps a judge of character on some of the recruiting coaches.

Some of you are definitely onto something....Iowa will likely have a rougher go at it in 2013 than they did in 2012 so grab your boot straps it indeed will get interesting. I predict he sticks though. No buy out and he rights the ship again, the ratio of good years vs. bad years.....range is wide and inconsistent.

It’s getting warm in here, anyone else warm?

I would disagree. If we would have beaten them last fall to make it 3 straight over the Hawkeyes and their program headed down hill. The fact of the matter they are not in our rear view mirror because they straight up kicked out tail up and down the field last fall. It was the one of those games I truly felt as I was watching it that we didn't belong on the same field as them that day.

How hot is Capt. Kirk's seat in Iowa? If he has another 4-8 year like this last one, does he get fired after next season despite the big buyout?

Probably depends on the price of corn.

They weren't the same type of games, but that's like saying the Gophers were ahead of Iowa based on the results of the last two games at TCF. I thought Iowa would be down this year, but when you look at Ferentz's record, when people start to count Iowa out, that's when they come storming back. That obviously didn't happen. They're breaking in a new QB next year and they lose their center, the glue that holds the strength of their team together. They don't get any favors in the schedule next year. They lose Indiana and Penn State and replace them with OSU and Wiscy.

Who's the QB going to be next year? Rudock?

As you might expect, Gopher Hole tends to be a den of 'sky is falling' predictions and reports from the events at Wisconsin and Iowa. These comments always seem so convincing. The big difference is Wisconsin has been bouncing back and going to rose bowls, while the Iowa reports end up being as bad or worse than expected.

They will still have a solid oline, Blythe was a frosh AA. Rudock will have to better then Vandenberg though, and that's going to be a challenge considering he has zero experience and mediocre offensive weapons.

Iowa goes through cycles. They were awful from 1998-2000 with only 7 total wins. Then finished with a share of the BT title twice in the early 2000's. Then struggled in the mid-2000's. Then went to the Orange Bowl in 2009. They may struggle the next few years and Ferentz may get let go, but I'll bet they'll land on their feet.

So, according to the article, Hayden Fry's dad beat him with a horsewhip - so he would "remember the lesson for the rest of his life." If someone tried to do that today, you'd have Family Protective Services on you like flies on you-know-what.

Indeed. I hope we can figure out how to stop the power run attack before next season.
