Iowa Football Coaches Receive Raises After School Cuts Swimming Programs

Horrible look.

And they're also letting a relatively new, state of the art swimming facility go mostly to waste by cutting the varsity teams for both men's and women's.

Corn for brains.

I'm the first person to bash Iowa, but this is misleading as the raises were approved back in January I believe.

Definitely some clickbait in the headline to make it seem like the only reason they are getting raises is because they cut swimming. Still not a great look for an athletic department that has not exactly had a smooth couple months.

As others have alluded to - the stated reason for the cuts was to save money ... and yet here they are spending that money.

I stand by my suggestion in the other thread, that if they actually wanted to keep those sports they would’ve just borrowed more. Rather, they were looking for an excuse to cut them.

Probably for the best. The risk of bacterial, viral, protozoan contamination is present.

The commenters on the article are right - Fire Ferentz and his irritating offspring (and lawyer out of his ~one billion dollar payoff), bring in Jerry Kill, Claeys, Limey for pennies on the dollar. Bring back Olympic sports.
