That is counting frosh Malcolm Robinson, Rey Estes, Blaise Andries in our two deep...none who have played a down.

That is counting sophs Antoine Winfield and Coney Durr in our two deep...neither who have played recently.

That is counting Iowa srs Snyder and Jewell in their two-deep...both missed Saturday and questionable for Saturday.

Battle of a couple bottom-dweller offenses...the better defense wins this game. I obviously think it's the Gophs.

Iowa also starts 16 JR/SRs. The Gophers start 12. See how that works?

I thought it was all about composite rankings. So I'm clear on all this, how much does age factor into the equation. If we have a team of 22 4 star redshirt freshmen, any chance vs Sr 3 stars? I'm so confused.

I'm thinking 247 needs to come up with a two deep composite for each team, each week. HS rating combined with class year, and accounting for Birthday (some kids are held back and vice versa).

How else are we supposed to know which teams are any good?

If you were the coach it would only be the rating of true freshman, due to holding everyone else out to prevent injuries.

And Iowa also isn’t that good. It’s probably an advantage that there coach has been there for 20 years though.

Upset? No. A pattern? Yes, Kill did the exact same thing.

Well...you're right!

I think the most glaring example was trotting out Ben Lauer vs TCU 2015 at TCF at left tackle. Poor Ben could barely move and got blown up on one of the first plays leading to a sack (was it a turnover?). I don't think he ever played again. Edit: he was in and out of the lineup and played in 5 games.

So yes, it continues to amaze me coaches run out players that clearly, CLEARLY, have not been tested at game speed leading to not only the player but the team getting hurt. It's counterproductive and shortsighted but it happens all the time. Pressure to win and magical thinking.

Which again is a totally different situation because Thomas looked good for over 3 quarters

Agree. With the size and speed of college football players today it’s more important than ever to ensure that they are physically and mentally prepared to play. It can be difficult to see when we’re losing games because of lack of depth or ability.

How did Coney look when PJ put him in?

Different situation, which I mentioned in a previous thread. He should have been redshirted, which I said before the season started

IF it was a hamstring (still not sure) no way he's 100% in 14 days and just a matter of time when they really unwind the speed. But, that's speculating.

Whatever. He's shown a clear reluctance to bring in players at position of absolute necessity as was shown by the Durr fiasco. Hopefully Durr didn't suffer more of a set back.
