Interesting read: How Harvard went from eight wins to recruiting top 100 players

Didn't we read an article about 1/2 of top MacDonald's AA players in 2002 who work in MacDonald's now instead of playing in NBA. Player ranking means nothing.

I wouldn't say they mean nothing.

A team with 13 5-star guys will beat a team with 13 1-star guys the majority of the time.

It really is a crapshoot though in some ways. When watching a kid play to rank him you can't tell his work ethic or attitude. All of the McD's AA had TALENT, they had a poor attitude and work ethic. They were ranked correctly based on their talent in high school, but what determines success in college and NBA has a lot to do with work and attitude along with talent.

I think Tubby has learned that along his way. Trevor has a great attitude and work ethic. Andre has a great attitude and work ethic. I think people will see how successful talent when grouped with those things can make you.

You're right. On average a player who is ranked in the top 5 in the country has the same success as a player who wasn't ranked at all.

Six of the 10 starters in the NBA Finals are McDonalds AA's. Dirk played in Hoop Summit, Marion went juco, Wade came off bench for AAU team
