Interesting concept: Move NIT to Final Four site?

Why not have the NIT semis on Friday and the finals on Sunday in a nearby arena?

I'm thinking he's operating on the idea that fans for the NCAA Final Four are going to take up the hotels and stuff, so the NIT fans need to clear out beforehand.

This makes zero sense to me. Hotels and travel will be at a premium, even Wednesday and Thursday. People from the city will be amped up for the NCAAs not the NIT.

If MSG is no go, just play the semis and finals at the home court of the highest seed. You would get good crowds and really, who cares if it is a little unfair for the away team. It is the NIT.

You mean the couple hundered fans from each school that actually attend the NIT Final 4?

MSG is basically empty for those games.

The profile of the NIT needs to be 'elevated'.

Move it to the Barn.

Agreed. The reason to move it to the final four (IMO) is to hopefully get some final four fans to come watch the other final four. The fans from the schools is so limited hotel space means little, it's about getting the average basketball fan to come watch the NIT.

Is tradition no longer valued at all.
