How many years under Mason did the Gophers deserve going to a better bowl but only to have the bowl committee leapfrog the Gophers because some lower B10 team would provide a bigger draw. Well this year the Insight Bowl should consider leapfrogging Missouri and get Iowa State to play the Gophers. What a great rivalry that would fill the stadium!

Either game would be fun to watch. Let's just hope Nebraska doesn't win. That is pretty much the only way we go to Detroit.

We aren't going to Detroit regardless of what happens in the Big 12 Championship. The Big Ten is getting two BCS bids, it's Boise State who would get screwed out of the BCS should Nebraska beat Texas. A Cornhuskers win would only change our opponent, not the destination.

I'll be rooting for Nebraska for three reasons:

1. Texas losing is always fun.

2. Texas losing bumps TCU into the national title game.

3. Texas losing at least throws into question whether the Fiesta would want Iowa. A game with Nebraska would be fun for the fans of those schools, but not to anyone else in the country. Make it Nebraska-Penn State, and you've got national appeal.

4. Gives a team like Cincy an outside shot at the National Title game. My wife is a Cincy grad and I adopted Cincy as my 2nd fave team back in 2006 and I think it'd be cool for them to get a shot before Brian Kelly (likely) moves on.
