EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – The Road to Houston is underway, and with that you get to put up with my weekly “Field of 68” projections every Sunday night/Monday morning. As some of you know from following my work over the years via Gopher Hole and/or Twitter, I’m all about “The Resume”, not “The Eye Test” (Warning, don’t get me started on the eye test).
That said, the first few weeks it’s impossible to project the Field of 68 based only on resume because we don’t have enough data (read: game results). So, early on there is (gasp!) some eye test involved. What that means? Early-season projections are a hybrid that build off my preseason projection, while also considering the few eye opening performances (good or bad) we’ve seen.
As always, an * denotes the projected automatic qualifier in a multiple-bid conference. For now, KenPom rankings (through Nov. 12 results) are noted in parentheses, but once the NCAA releases its NET rankings, I will use those for the remainder of the season.
