per tweets from Adam Rittenberg:

"Glass has mentioned reaching out to BCA twice. Also says Tony Dungy will be helpful in identifying minority candidates."

"Also consulting with Tony Dungy, faculty reps, NCAA officials, Big Ten officials. "At the end of the day, the buck stops with me."

Go Gophers!!

So does Tony get any monetary compensation from doing all this consulting, or is he just doing this out of the goodness of his heart to try and promote the cause of minority candidates?

Seriously, what connection does IU have with Dungy other than that he happened to coach in the same state for a few years?

In Indiana it is a complete toss up with who is more popular Dungy or Manning. For a large part of the state population their amount of self worth has a direct relationship with the Colts. I can not overstate how much the Colts mean to way too many Hoosiers. It's quite sad really.

The reason Glass said that he would talk with Dungy is simple it adds credibility to the coaching search. It's nothing more nothing less.

And if you were looking at hiring a football coach wouldn't you seek out all the expert opinions possible?

He told Dan Patrick that that is who the Gophers should hire when Patrick asked about him (Dungy) being the coach.

Holy crap people are dumb.

Patrick asked about an article that said Trestman and Dungy were the top 2 candidates. And Dungy responded with they better look at the other guy (to say he was not a candidate).
At no point did Dungy actually say Trestman was the best candidate for the job. He was responding to a question about a report that named only two candidates.
