Floyd likes it up here. I am so happy to have a stadium we can defend and play well in. Absolutely thrilled with the effort of the team today. Between this win and the Michigan win, I've got a couple games to keep on DVR and watch during the winter.

I'm now even more interested in the Michigan St v Ohio St game tonight.

And btw, we still hold our own destiny even if we lose to OSU. If we beat Nebraska and Wisconsin, the best anyone else could do is have 2 losses with one being to us. But anyway, next week is the game at hand. Can't wait.

Ya, next week is essentially meaningless aside from pride reasons. It could also help us with the bowl selection, but beating Nebraska means a 1 game playoff with Wisconsin for the title.

Its also likely that the Illinois loss doesn't end up hurting us (aside from bowl selection) if Wisconsin and Nebraska don't drop any more games they're supposed to win.

Yep, if we beat Nebraska and Wisconsin, we win the west no matter what happens in any other games.

Still, the Ohio St. game could be fun.

Is west division record is the first thing that's looked at?

Is west division record is the first thing that's looked at?

Best record in Conference 1st. Head to head is 2nd. Inside the Division is 3rd.

http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/archive/081011aaa.html

The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:
(a) If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
(b) If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

1. The records of the three tied teams will be compared against each other.
2. The records of the three tied teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, and 6).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The highest ranked team in the first College Football Playoff poll following the completion of Big Ten regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game, unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of each other in the College Football Playoff poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game.
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
7. The representative will be chosen by random draw.

Overall conference record, then head to head record, then division record.

Here's what the big ten website says:

As other mentioned, it is overall record in the BT. The schedule is just setting up to where we just have to win the last two. We would have two losses (if we lose to OSU, but beat NE and WI) but everyone else would have at least two losses and we would have beaten Iowa, WI and NE so we would have the tie-breaker.

I need further clarification. Can someone post this a fourth time? ;)

As a plus, when we beat tOSU, that puts at 7-0 at home for the season.

That would be a pretty big brick.

Thanks, everyone.

I think GH'ers in this thread are underestimating the impact a win vs. tOSU would have in the B1G West title race. If we beat tOSU I think a win vs. Nebraska could potentially be enough to win the division, even with a loss at Wisconsin. Wisconsin still has to play Nebraska and at Iowa. Nebraska still has to play at Wisconsin and at Iowa.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a 3-way tie at 6-2 in the division or see Wisconsin end up 5-3, in which case a 6-2 Gophers team would beat a 6-2 Nebraska team with a head-to-head tiebreaker (assuming we beat Wisconsin and tOSU).

I'm beginning to think...

A perfect end to Hate Week!

SKI-U-MAH and Go Gophers!

Your last sentence makes no sense. If we beat Nebraska and assume we beat Wisconsin and OSU we wouldn't be 6-2. We'd be 7-1.
