I'M A FAN!!!

Pretty much everyone on here will see my name make a post and probably welcome me aboard. The fact is, I've been a member since New Year's Eve, 2010. I've never posted a single thing. While many of you may wonder why I would become a member and not post anything, I like to think of it as just being a fan and appreciating everything that is posted on this site.

You see I cut my teeth on the U when I was about 21. In the late 80's and early 90's, my mother got me tickets that allowed me access to the games. Almost always amazing seats. Usually between the 40's and within 30 rows of the field, many times we left at the half because of our dismal play, but I really became a fan at those games.

I'm a fan of the way all of you argue every little point.
I'm a fan of the details put into people's posts: DL's summations of the radio shows, Loblaw's ability to break down high school sports, Bleeds love of all things maroon and gold, and many, many more that I'm leaving out.
I'm a fan of the passion people show when a 17 year old commits to our team.
I'm a fan of the anger people have when that same 17 year old de-commits.
-- You see, they care so much that it hurts when a kid changes their mind. I love the passion you have for this team year in and year out.
I'm a fan when Jim Wacker promises a Rose Bowl birth, even to his death, God rest his soul.
I'm a fan when Tony Levine is our best receiver.
I'm a fan when Tim Biakabutuka rushes for 200+ yards and three scores before halftime.
I'm a fan when Glen Mason calls for three rushes straight up the gut for Amir Pinnex.
I'm a fan when Glen Mason's team rushes for 500+ yards against a Michigan team, and still loses.
I'm a fan when Brian Cupito is our best quarterback.
I'm a fan when Tim Brewster sounds like a re-incarnated Jim Wacker.
I'm a fan when Tim Brewster brought in a nationally ranked recruiting class.
I'm a fan when one of his team's started 7-0.
I'm a fan when we lose to Northwestern, on Homecoming, on an interception return for a touchdown in the closing minutes.
I'm a fan when he ultimately failed miserably.
I'm a fan when we get beat top to bottom by an FCS football team
I'm a fan when our team, that was beat to death with a new head coach, musters up enough will and determination to come from 2 scores down to beat a better and bitter rival and to continue that inspired play for the rest of the season.
I'm a fan when we win in triple overtime against a team that we should have killed early and often.
I'm a fan when we continue to win ugly.

Win or lose, I'm going to support this team and I will forever be a fan. Like most you will, day in and day out, week in and week out, season in and season out, year in and year out, I'm a fan. I like what Jerry Kill has done and seems to be doing, but in the end, if he moves on because of success or because of failure, I'm a fan and will be until I don't how to tie my shoes.

Put it on a t-shirt, put it on a bumper sticker, put it on two slices of bread with something grilled in between and a cold beverage by its side, because I'm a fan and no matter what happens, I'm not going anywhere.

I'm a fan, be one with me.

With a first post like that, someone ought to say "welcome". There's likely a number of people like you that are under the radar fans but fans none the less.

Thumbs up... Great first post.

In a Boat...Wearing a Coat
I am a fan Sam I am...I really love Green Eggs and Ham!

Kidding - Nice post.

Tony Levine was never the Gophers best receiver (Douglas, Rios, Ostermann, Thelwell) and Brew never started 7-0.

This is part of what I love about this place. Thelwell, maybe. 6-0 for Brew? I know I'm close.

Are all your posts going to be that long? jk

I'm with ya brother, although I never liked anything about Brewster.

great recievers Cooper, Atwell, Decker, and of course Jay Carrol.

I'm a fan too, win or lose. My dream is that we repeat what we were able to do my junior and senior years at Minnesota before I die. We went to the Rose Bowl both years. I feel sorry for younger Gopher fans who have never experienced that kind of success. It was exhilarating. I'm sure that we have many fans who really don't appreciate that we were once one of the premier programs in the country. I believe we can do that again.
