Thank you for posting. Fabulous home season with the dramatic wins against Iowa (the Shik game-winning tip); Illinois (critical goal-tending call gives the Gophers a critical basket in the last couple minutes); Michigan (brilliant Saturday afternoon performance with numerous transition baskets with the Barn pulsating)—the home losses were to Ball State (Rick Majerus w/Melvin not playing for missing a class) and Bobby Knight with the Hoosiers running their passing game offense flawlessly in the second half—such a great coach when he kept his inner demons under control as was usually the case at Williams Arena. Fun to see Ed Bain officiating who was quoted on the record in a Strib article near the end of the ‘90 season expressing his admiration for Richard Coffey. Those were the days.

I was at that game. Great fun! Who were the pro Illini announcers? Couple of clowns, coming up with phantom calls against the Gophers.

Loved the old court. No BS written all over. It will never happen but wish schools went back to minimal court graphics.

Love the atmosphere in Barn and the grit of a Clem Haskins coached team. I also realized that freethrow shooting kinda sucked back then as well. 🤔😏

I was there in the "student section" behind the basket before there actually was a designated student section. Such a fun game, really my first introduction to a crazed Minnesota crowd. That was a great year for our winter sports in The Barn, with a national title runner-up in hockey (about 2 inches to the left and Skarda's wrister in OT goes in and we're national champions), and a Sweet 16 appearance for Clem's boys. Thanks for posting this, whogoofed, it brings back great memories.

Huh? I rewatched the full game and we had Burton, Newburn, Lynch, Bond, etc all above 75%
