anyone see any of the Illini and Southern Indiana? Looks like SI gave them all they could handle and UI starters played a lot.

maybe Illinois is everything theyre made out to be this year. ofcourse people still think them, purdue, and wisco will finish ahead of us, but to no avail because were gettin in the top 3 :)

Illini are very young...will take a few games to get together...they are talented so expect them to be very tough come Big ten time...

For much of the pre-season, Weber has been focusing on Defense for this group so far. They have a ton of offensive skill combined with experience and young stars. They're getting the top in state talent now and are going to be good for some time.

You mean they start 4 seniors and return their entire starting line-up from last year?

If that is young, then I'm not even born yet.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing.

All this exhibition season proves is they are still wildly inconsistent. They have a ton of talent, but didn't seem to put it all together last year for a stretch of games.

November 2009:
Le Moyne (D-II) 82, Syracuse 79

March 26, 2010:
Syracuse 30-5, #1 seed in the NCAA tourney

Which 2006 team was this?

Wed, Nov 08 Winona State (D-II) Williams Arena 64 - 69 (L)
Thu, Nov 23 Marist at Orlando, Fla. 56 - 63 (L)
Fri, Nov 24 Southern Illinois at Orlando, Fla. 53 - 69 (L)
Sun, Nov 26 Montana at Orlando, Fla. 65 - 72 (L)

It goes both ways... I think the Illini are somewhere in the middle...

I know it's early, but to say IL looked rusty is putting it mildly...they better get things figured out in the next month or two, because they are supposed to be a pretty strong contender this year in the Big 10, at least by a number of analysts.

The thing is... Syracuse and Illinois are/were both expected to be top 25 teams by most... Minnesota had lost everyone and was predicted to be absolutely horrible. Winona State on the other hand was coming off a national championship and then wound up going through that season with what?... 1 loss? Hard to compare Minnesota vs. Winona State in 2006 with Syracuse last year or Illinois this year...

Anyway, my only point is this: the fact a top 25 team looks like they are struggling in an exhibition game in early November doesn't mean much. However, having a guard with a big time attitude problem does mean something and I hope Illinois implodes this year,... but they should be fine.

I watched parts of that game and wasn't impressed at all with the fighting Illini. McCamey couldn't handle the PG role going against the quick guards of South Indy. They also gave up to many offensive rebounds. Tisdale played well.

I agree, they aren't really fair comparisons. My only point is that it can go both ways, and they were inconsistent all of last year. I also think they'll be fine, but not consistent enough to challenge for a Big Ten title.
