Musical coaches really undermines college athletics. You "buy-in" as a fan and then endure watching your coach leave after only a few seasons. Its become all-too common, though.

I agree to a point, maybe Maturi could as way of compensation, talk to family friend Paul Chryst and get him to take the position. Maturi would get his coach and Wisky would lose the brains propping up BB's tenure.

I don't buy your argument.
What undermines college athletics is fans.
Fans bring the money that make it more about winning than developing quality people.
Fans are often the people that cause the musical coaches.

You reap what you sow, and the fact that the game is all about the fans means stuff like moving coaches are going to happen.

As a San Diego State alum I can assure you they understand this is part of the deal. They enjoy the success while they have it and understand that if it's huge success they'll have to start over, again. They are very happy that they've held on to Steve Fisher as long as they've been able to on the hoops side, and probably need to look at a Steve Fisher type of hire for football - a proven coach looking for one last gig for the last 5-7 years of his career, in a beautiful city/campus. I thought Mason would have been that guy a few years back, especially with Jeff Schemel as their AD.

Go Gophers!!

San Diego State is a mid major school. It is understood at those schools that if they have a strong coach, that a Major School will offer their coach twice as much as they can afford to pay.

Pooofff! the Coach is gone and they are trying to comb the high schools or Division 2 schools for a replacement. It is just the way things go in the football world. It is all about what have you done for me lately. Win, and you are a God. Lose and you get to sell used cars for a living.
