I would make Rodney Williams watch that Victor Oladipo performance about 5 x before the next game. Heart, leadership, hustle, desire, skill....He exhibited all the things a winning team needs...and none of the things Rodney has been providing the Gophers.

Oladipo is the national player of year. Best college performance in a hostile environment I've seen all season.

Then make him watch Jordan put up 63 against Bird and the Celtics.

Sorry, but Oladipo is twice the player Rodney Williams will ever be. Williams could be a good player but is the poster child for poor coaching in AAU.

Rodney had the same AAU coaching as Royce White (ok maybe bad example) but also the same system that Tyus Jones is currently in. Tyus gets pretty good national reviews for his basektball IQ and work ethic.

Tyus Jones' game isn't all about dunking.

Exactly. Rodney, good kid. Royce, bad example. Resultant effect...I will take Rodney any day. Maybe we wouldn't win, but he would not embarrass us.

If you were coach you would of resigned after they lost to Duke.

But I thought AAU was always at fault.

If I were the coach I'd focus on how to run meaningful practices and making adjustments within games.

Moses, I would go a step further and have the entire team watch an Indiana game and try to emulate their crisp, quick ball movement and their movement without the ball.

I agree they have really improved over the past month. Zeller has gotten more aggressive and it helps to get calls like that rediculous and 1 he got. But he got that beacuse he wasn't afraid to go to the basket.

The reason I singled out Rodney is because I think he has a habit of shrinking up when the moment gets bigger. Oladipo is the opposite and takes over. If his performance doesn't make Rodney and the rest of the team wanna play like crazy, they shouldn't be playing.

Before or after you write 'I won't pitch a fit and threaten to leave Gopherhole after every loss' 5000 times?

With Rodney its all upstairs there isn't anything you can make him do, unless he gets the confidence step up in big situations nothing will change, no matter how many free throws he shoots in practice or how much tape of Vic he watches. Rodney has alot of ability but like RSIII no killer instinct and that's something you can't coach, you have to recruit it.

Have to disagree with you here, dpo. Respectfully, Victor Oladipo should and will be First Team All Big Ten (the writers and/or coaches are on crack if he isn't a unanimous 1st Teamer), has a real good shot at being a First Team All-American, and I'd give him a fighter's chance to get one of the reputable National Player of the Year awards. The guy does everything for his team, and his team is really, really good. Reminds me of a taller version of Bobby Jackson.

I agree that he will likely be First Team All Big Ten, but the fact that it isn't a no-brainer (Burke, Paul, Hardaway and Thomas all have as good or better resumés) shows how unlikely it is that he will win any national awards. He's a good player, there's no doubt, but he isn't even the best player on his own team. It's pretty hard to be considered the best player in the country when you're not even the best player on your own team.

He would be the best 2 guard on the t-wolves right now - if they had him.

I'm sure there are many people that agree with you on that. I'm also sure there are nearly as many people who think Oladipo is the best player on Indiana, and that's saying something because Zeller is fantastic. I'd use IU's two games vs. Michigan State as an example. Which player has Sparty had absolutely no answer for, on both ends of the court, in both games? And it's not like MSU's throwing chopped-liver players at Oladipo.

90% of IU fans on the peegs site would tell you Oladipo is by far their best player.

DP, have you ever considered DEFENSE? Oladipo is the best defensive player in the country on top of his crazy offensive production (Shooting 64% and very efficient). Zeller has improved in the past month, but he also had some very poor games earlier while Oladipo has carried them throughout. Just ask IU fans.

I would agree with that. I'm married to one of the IU fans and she gets upset at announcers that refer to Cody Zeller's Hoosiers. He's obviously one of, if not THE best college center, but Oladipo has been the Hoosiers MVP. We will both be at The Barn next Tuesday. I was rooting for IU last night so we can see the Gophers play the #1 team. Jokingly telling my IU fan coworkers that I'm looking forward to the Hoosiers saving Tubby's job next week.;)
