Absolutely outstanding line.

One thing's for sure, this guy sure is likable.

Despite his "aw shucks" personality, this is a smart, sophisticated guy that is not in over his head here at the U - unlike Brewster.

What really sold me is that he actually used this line twice in his presser. The man has completely won me over.

Kill's personality will make him popular here, that's for sure.

I just heard him talk for the first time and I wan't to have a beer with him. :drink:

Plus, since he's evidently landed a hottie wife, that's one area he's WAY ahead of Bret Bielema.

He's a good guy and a hell of a football coach. All you doubters, just give him a chance please.

This guy was a 180 compared to all the hype we heard from Wacker and Brewster at there first news presser. He definitely is taking a complete opposite approach then what we have seen in the past from the clowns we hired .

Re: Coach Kill

Illini fan here and first-time poster. Please let me implore Gopher fans to give Coach Kill a chance before automatically throwing him under the bus. I live in Southern Illinois and am familiar with his great family. He took a moribound program at Southern Illinois University that was likely a few short horrible football years away from discontinuing the program. Not only did he and his staff work their butts off, but turned around a program into one that ultimately generated enough interest based on their success to help lead the way to a brand new stadium christened this year.
At Northern, we followed his success there with pride, as well. Coach Kill is honest, straightforward, and will not try the old bait-and-switch on anyone. He's completely honest, and I believe parents and their sons will be very impressed by his commitment to them and the Gopher program. His coaching career is forged with experience, which I believe is needed to reinvigorate the Gopher program. I can tell you he and his staff will work hard to recruit, and then coach up and improve the recruits they bring in.
I personally hope Minnesota goes 11-1 each year, with the lone loss being against the Illini. But please, believe me when I say I many of you will soon feel very fortunate that Jerry Kill is your new coach.

I figured he'd use that line.:)

Sorry, I thought it was a little corny especially because you told us he used that story last time he was hired. I'm hoping he doesn't use that folktale to seal the deal with recruits.

When you compare the two you really see what he means.

I have a sneaking suspicion you are right. My "anger" or "disappointment" is with Matrui...you take Joel out of the equation, and I can see some bright spots. He continually over promises and under delivers. I wish Coach Kill all the best and at the same time, I can't wait for J.M. to retire.
