Good list, but didn't like how the writer couldn't pass up an opportunity to rip on Maturi. I get how Maturi messed up this last hire, but lest not forget what he's done for Gopher athletics (Tubby, Big12Ten divisons, TCF Bank Stadium).
 

Don Treadwell would be a great hire...if we were the Akron Zips. This writer apparently does not think the Gophers have any chance to land a big time coach.

Leach would be a great hire because it would be noticed nationally and generate buzz locally but it just aint gonna happen.

Sumlin is the only legit target on this list. He would be a great hire but he will not impress or energize the casual fan base. He would however be the most distinguished coaching hire, in terms of football, that the gophs have had since they hired Lou Holtz.

Maturi's legacy is hinging on this hire. Sure hes done some nice things during his tenure (Tubby, TCF Bank Stadium) but football is king and if you arent winning on the gridiron the rest doesnt mean much.

How is Al Golden not a legit target?
