..... we're cancelling on them because of that school's impending academic fraud issues. Is there an angle we may not be aware of? It sounds like their issues may run pretty deep.
 

Interesting take but I couldn't even begin to guess what those issues would be that would be an underlying cause to cancel.

I don't see how that would have any impact on the Gophers. It's potentially positive, if UNC endures more scholarship sanctions or suspensions. If they ended up later vacating the game it actually has no bearing on the Gophers - if Gophers won it would still be a W, if they lost it would still be an L; it would just not show up on the UNC ledger at all. I don't think there is any way they receive a death penalty and have to cancel football, if that's what you are getting at.

I was just curious if anyone had ideas on anything about this. A "death penalty" is highly unlikely.
Vacating wins is a useless and silly punishment.
 

We wouldn't be paying them $800K though if the reasoning was tied at all to possible NCAA sanctions. Just forget about it and move on.
