Jim was a standard for years singing the Anthem and wish he was still with us.

Anyone know who will have this honor??

Maybe Ben Utecht will be in attendance. I read where he may retire from the NFL and advance his Christian music career.

Jim Mitchell was the best. So was Ray Christensen. But, things change, and not always for the better.

If I had a vote in this I would cast it for former Gopher player Ross Huckelberry (sp?)

I remember Mitch when I was in Marching Band. Awesome, awesome guy and great singer.

In Memoriam
Although not an athlete, for thousands of Gopher football fans, Jim Mitchell was a star. The former drum major (1966-71) volunteered with the band, helping each subsequent drum major work on style and showmanship. He also sang the national anthem and "Hail! Minnesota" at most home football games through last fall. Mitchell passed away March 17, 2004, at age 59 of heart failure.
